  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X

Jim,

if R-X is RED CINE with all the major GUI and handling issues sorted out, than its exactly what we need. No need for it to replace all the other stuff. It should just do what it should have done so far, but in an easier to use fashion.

Looking forward to this. Will it be a free version like RED CINE or will R-X be a paid app (that was not to be extractable from your announcement). Just to be sure...

Thanks,
Axel

Ditto... I hope not for a "light" Scratch, but for a beefed up RC. You know, as it would have evolved along with RA!:sifone:

Open Source for plugins

Open Source for plugins

Jim, make it open source for plugins and program customizations with a lot of documentation
It will be like another revolution
and lot people working free for you making good programs.

ditto, I'm surprised that Red has yet to harness open source. Even Apple recognizes the benefits

Please do NOT ask us to make this an app that replaces every application you know of or have dreamed about. That's what you pay the other guys a lot of money to do.

Jim

Exactly right Jim. We cant ask red to create app which eliminates the necessity of post production and you are right. The tools provided by red will assist people take it forward.

Looking forward to test new Redcine-X

I can't wait to try it out.

Wow... every week. Red is Red.

Ready to BetaTest!

Very excited for this!

The single most important thing to me is a standard RED "look" file so that we can move a color grade FROM REDCINE-X to THE CAMERA.

Jim,
I guess you're also answering the question when a v20 compliant version of Redcine will be released?
A: August.

Dave
I hope not.... because us PC users are waiting to take advantage of the build 20 improvements but can't currently at all. Waiting another six weeks or more would be a bit harsh IMHO.

And I agree with Mark, look import/export is among my most hoped for improvements (along with separate RGB and gamma curve support). Add in working EDL import/export for Premiere, FCP and Avid and I'd be more than happy!

Cheers,

Paul

Any improvement on a free app is always a very nice surprise. Hope to be dazzled, no matter in how small of a measure. It will be appreciated, and fun to unwrap!

Since so many of us aren't fathers, what did we do to deserve this? :-)

I would like to have both redcine-x and red alert share common cc file either rlx or rsx.

Yes! :hurray:

ha! I suppose some people do expect RED to do everything. Maybe they misinterpret the term RED Digital Cinema.

Next up is a RED version of a Milo which is controlled in real time directly through REDCine ;)

Anyway. Great news. look forward to seeing the results

VERY exciting. i agree with the calls for a common 'look' file format to make it's way out of redcine and into other apps and in particular, the camera.

i also hope that the output settings change dramatically and become more like red rushes output settings. this is very exciting.

any hints as to the changes jim?

I would just like to get the ATI video card compatibility issues with RC addressed. Last version worked very well except for export rendering.

Understood.

In addition to a "RED STANDARDIZED" COLOR LOOK FILE I can EXPORT TO CAMERA - there is just one feature I would make a sincere plea to have inside the app - and it would make a HUGE difference on typical dailies workflows.

I'll ask for this just one last time and never mention it again ...

AUTO-SYNC BWF AUDIO FILES

If you can't do it - it's all good - but is FREEKIN' GREAT if you can -

Great! bring it on! I wanna test it.
If only stop if little bugs from the last version... limited cuts, lack frames..color freezes.. it would be perfect. This means i will need to update crimson.
