I think we are close enough to announce this one. We are working on a new REDCINE-X™and should have some screen shots later this week (or so). We are interested in feedback before we launch it in August.

R-X™ will support Build 20, RED Rocket and be Mac and PC compatible. We also think it will be more solid and user friendly... should be or we are wasting our time.

1st version will have the basics, then we will add features over time.

Please do NOT ask us to make this an app that replaces every application you know of or have dreamed about. That's what you pay the other guys a lot of money to do.

Jim

Jim, all I ask for is stability, some increased functionality (within the free software expectations), and standardized look profiles that can be shared across Red apps and the camera. Those things would make me happy. I don't expect you guys to give us Scratch for free. Just a rock solid Redcine.

As always, thank you for your continued dedication to improving products and listening to your customers and fellow Redusers.

Simple and reliable is always good. Much better than an overload of escoteric features.

looking forward to august!

p.s.: oh, and a gpi trigger function for the coffee machine would be nice ;-)

sounds great Jim!

My request is that whatever functionality you decide to do, will also be accessible via Automator/AppleScript, so we can automate the workflow through the tool!

Please, think of Adobe Lightroom like workflow with right consistent codes as lightroom output is not consistent.. its just the non-destructive first/best light grading to apply on r3d files.. shot selection, assembly, xml/edl export to PPRO would be one of my Dreams...
I hope I'm not asking for too much...

Jim,
I guess you're also answering the question when a v20 compliant version of Redcine will be released?
A: August.

Dave

Thanks for letting us know in advance! I feel RC has so much potential that I really have made it very centric to my workflow. :driving: With this news, obviously, my expectations are even higher than before.:thumbup1:

Thanks a lot!!!

PS

1. Alfa/Beta = add me to the list, please...!!!:emote_happyhappy:
2. Is this also related to what Ian is working on re: Crimson?

Please, please, oh please add the conforming function to it. That is all I want. Then we can forget all of the Monkey Extracts, Crimsons, Metafuses, Clipfinders and all other stuff. ASC CDL compliance would be nice too, but I'm talking crazy now:shocked:

Ooh yes that would be great.

This is exciting Jim! You continually give and give.
