  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RPP's Now Shipping....

Uhm. Is there a shot of the insides of this case too? Does it have room for follow focus rings?

The RED RPP Innerspace case is unique to us.. you wont be able to get it from them directly, it has various unique features to RED.

We have the prototype for the RED ONE body and accessory cases in that are pretty bad ass, we will start selling that one shortly.

I think it was my dyslexia that is questionable Jochen, your doing fine :)

Nice! Can't wait.

By the way, would these lenses really be safe in that case as checked baggage on an airline flight? I own a couple of durable looking Innerspace cases, but haven't put them to the test as flight cargo.

Should I be worried? Items in question are my 24" JVC monitor and these RPPs.

We made these specifically strong with extra foam, hardcore rivets and hardware just for that reason.. The only thing you should really need to worry about is some bag handler getting sticky fingers :)

What is the weight of the Red prime case? This is very important because the total weight of the lenses (assuming the 18mm is 6lbs like the 25mm) will be around 31lbs
so if the case is any more than 19lbs then it will be subject to overage charges on airlines and won't even be allowed on some smaller, puddle jumper planes.

Case weighs 26 pounds with foam.. No way are you going to get it under 50 pounds with 6 lenses, even a pelican 1620 with minimal foam weighs 24 pounds, and thats the smallest size pelican i would feel comfortable putting 6 lenses in, and even then I would be careful.

oh here is a photo of the case open.. as you can see it comes loaded with extra foam pucks to vary the depth of the holes as needed.

It would've been nice with the ability to have follow focus rings in there for each lens. Oh well - when the time comes I guess I'll get myself a custom case made.

I think he means a spot for pre-marked disks that are the white dry-erase plastic that are used for marking distances on a follow focus. A lot of ACs like to have one for each lens (or even a pair if they're working dual-sided) and keep these with the lenses. Back in my ACing days, I used to simply tape these to the lens cap of each lens so the 2nd AC could hand them to me right after each lens change.

Jarred, not that I ever hope to drop these things, but how far of a drop do you think the case could take without damaging the lenses in the least? At least 3 feet i'd hope (such as someone tripping whilst walking and out goes the case)

pre marked distances..

so you dont have to remark.. its very very common..

(assuming hes talking about rings for a remote focus unit)

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I consider it essential to have a spot for these for each lens.
