We don't have the best track record of making projected release dates. In many instances, we announce something and then frustrate our customers by being late. We now find ourselves not wanting to talk about a lot of things currently in development. But you should know that there are a ton of things going on behind the scenes.

We recently asked for "test pilots" to try out our new color science. About a week later there is a build for everyone to work with. Then, soon after, there is a full download package called Build 20 available. This seems like a much better approach to "announcement and release" compared to our old way of doing things.

If we feel fairly certain of hitting our targets in a timely fashion, we'll tell you about it. RED Rocket is an example.

But going forward we are not likely to announce or give out dates of things we are working on until just before they are ready. The exception would be something we need a lot of customer feedback on (like Scarlet & EPIC)... but even then we'll try to get closer to completion before talking about it and asking for feedback.

We really appreciate our customers and their patience with us as we are building a camera company from scratch. It has been much more complicated and difficult than ever imagined. We are always trying to find ways to improve our business. That includes how we communicate with our partners and customers.

No problem. As long as we get some idea of what the product is and price range if it is going to be expensive. Also, if we get a basic idea of when--like "second half of next year" would work. It just really helps some of us without a lot of money to make wise purchasing decisions. One thing I don't like about Apple....

I agree Jim
Too many people crying and complaining on here
I can't wait to get an Epic
But I can wait for it to be right
Or at least "Red One right" : )
My red one has worked the way I needed it to
And Im mostly changing to Epic
Because I can use it as a lightweight Red one
Lately it seems the bitching is down to a minimum
And I think that's due to the awesome real name change
It's alot easier to browse the forum and get the proper info
From the usual reduser regulars
A great bunch of people
Thanks for filtering the forum jarred and moderators

Sounds good.

I think having the Red One out makes it much easier. I have an amazing camera that I can use every day and it works great!

I can wait for everything else as my world will just get better as time goes on.

Keep up the fantastic work.

We're all behind you! I know I've been shouting from the rafters here in Oz.

It has been much more complicated and difficult than ever imagined.
Jim

We understand that Jim.
We understand the further out there, on the leading edge you are...the exponentially harder it is to achieve 100% perfection.
We want the new stuff fresh out of the oven, not the old school technologies...that's why we're with you.
Keep on giving us the best you can. You've done it right so far....keep it coming!

We have a great tool in our hands: Red One.

For your proof to make a real pro 4k camera, it is already done.

Keep improving and innovating the products,
now more in the back store, No problem with me.

The exception would be something we need a lot of customer feedback on (like Scarlet & EPIC)... but even then we'll try to get closer to completion before talking about it and asking for feedback.

Jim,
Can't wait for these discussions around the FF35 versions.
I expect it to be like when the RedOne was being developed...or hope so!

Love it...I've been wishing for it a long time. While it's awesome that you guys want to share in the excitement of something new and great, until we have details, there is no point in the tease. It also keeps the waiting down to a minimum. I personally LOVE that you announced RED Rocket and are now very close to shipping. It would have been pretty lame had it been "coming some time in 2010" or something like that.

Jim,

You're not only doing it right, you're doing it the only way anybody with a shred a common sense and logic would have done it, which is not to minimize the impact of your accomplishments, on the contrary. But hey, every time I'm talking with people in the business and inevitably we touch on the bona fide success that is RED, everybody puts it down to Jim being a genius, "of course he made it work, look at Oakley". And I can't help but to ponder, how much of a "genius" does anybody need to be to realize that the way you guys are doing things is the way any other company should have been doing it for years now.

A year ago, when I got sick and tired of lugging around our old F-900 and started considering using HDV cameras for the smaller gigs, I realized I needed to also get the 35mm DOF adapters as the price for the smaller cameras, which of course, were never quite that small anymore after adding all that stuff to them. My wife, quite perplexed, asked me how come Sony, Panasonic or Canon did not put a Nikon or Canon mount on their cameras, making customers happy and releasing products that would resist obsolesce much better. "Who do you think they are, Jim Jannard?", asked I, to which she replied "I guess Jannard genius' resides in not being an idiot" ...

But Jim, having pledged my support to you, I cannot emphasize enough how monumentally important the release of SCARLET will be for your company and your customers. They day that 2/3" Scarlet comes out, in PL, Nikon and B4 flavors, will be the day that you will make an impact thrice as big on this field as you made with the RED ONE (which was cataclysmic), so please, if you're willing to take risks again in announcing the release of one more more product, even if you're off by a month or two, LET IT BE SCARLET!!!

Did I make my point clear? :-)

No problem, Jim. I like it better that way..

So when is it coming out? just kidding! The reasonable one's understand and appreciate the effort in giving us as much accurate information as possible in an ever changing tech-no world. Thanks for the info. Jim.

I totally agree with everything and im entitled to an opinion whether it matters to you or not.

Since Scarlet and Epic are exceptions, i think an update is way overdue.
I respect the hard work that goes into a product and its production, but just like an average consume or prosumer, i can give feedback. I believe if an estimate for a release date is not possible, then maybe some test footage or some teaser news can satisfy the market your shooting for (us)

Who's to blame! :hanged:Just joking. Ahh it was fun while it lasted.:crying: Anyway this company will always have a piece of my heart.
