I know this isn't new technology, but...

"....that's what Eye-Fi has done with its line of wireless flash memory cards, The company has just announced the $149, 4GB Eye-Fi Pro...which beams pictures directly from your camera" over Wi-Fi.

Granted, the transfer rates wouldn't nearly be fast enough, but hey, it's an awesome concept.

EDIT: Gizmodo has a bit more info on the product. http://i.gizmodo.com/5284997/eye+fi-pro-wireless-sd-card-review

Yes, the tech could easily be applied to CF cards...Even off the shelf SD-CF card interfaces exist: http://www.delkin.com/products/adapters/sd-to-cf/sd-to-cf.html and I believe a number of people have tried it in photo world. Bandwidth is clearly an issue limiting interest in this. We may soon see the Cfast card which is SATA-based instead of ATA, which will speed things up a bit with regular cards, and new wireless gadgets are also on the horizon... ;)

Eye-Fi actually announced a CF version of their Pro card about a year ago and then dropped it since all the camera makers are moving over to SDHC/SDXC.

At this time, the speed and range of these things is really lacking. But if range can be brought up to 100+ feet and speed on par with multiple bonded channels of 802.11n, then we could have our RED cameras record wirelessly to a receiving server rather than to onboard media. :)
