Swit Hot Swap or Anton Bauer?

I am getting ready to purchase a RED and wanted to find out what battery setup was better... The Switronix Hot Swap Plate with Swit Batteries, The Swit Hot Swap Plate with RED batteries and ET's Vmount plate, or some sort of Hot swap Anton Bauer plate? Possibly with an Anton Bauer plate for the Hard Drives too? Any insight on this matter would be appreciated.

Abel may be offering a combo deal on this but otherwise I see no real advantage in going Switronix over the Red Bricks. Switronix are the only batteries (other than Red Bricks)that offer compatible battery info % runtime remaining, display on the Red LCD/EVF. Switronix and Swit are two different brands.

The ET V-Mount plate is popular with those that like to mount the battery on the side of Red rather than the rear or top.

some sort of Hot swap Anton Bauer plate? Possibly with an Anton Bauer plate for the Hard Drives too?

We tried this in the early days of first getting the Red. We had a V-lock to AB plate and then mounted the AB Hot Swap to that. Still no battery runtime from AB batteries. You need to decide whether that is a deal breaker or not.
You would need the AB plate with Red Lemo power connector and the AB Hot Swap Plate if you want to go all Anton Bauer for single and double battery mounting.

Something to keep in mind: your Red warranty dose not cover "non Red Power" damage! Or to put it another way, a damaged power board if you use non-Red power.

Is there a way to see in the LCD the remaining power from switronix batteries also ? I thought you could ony with the RED bricks mounted on that special plate from switronix.

I have the Switronix Hot Swap Plate with RED bricks and it works great. It's nice being able to use two batteries at once (doubling life) and there is also the option of mounting a Red drive (with ET mount) on the left side opposite a brick as an alternative set-up. Of course, that adds an extra step to the hot swapping process. But all in all, very nice.

My second Red was three weeks old and quit working one day. It ended up being the power board in the camera. Because I was not using "Red Power" it was not covered under warranty. In all fairness to Red, the camera was so new they did help me out some, and I still had to pay some.

I use very good Power, Anton Bauer batts and Frezzi AC.

Just keep it in mind when you are using or purchasing power.

Switronix makes a special set of batteries that will pass data through to the RED. 95W and 190W.

I have 95W Switronix bats but they don't pass anything. I assume I also need the RED double mount yes ? And the middle battery the 135W one isn't also capable of passing batt data. Because the 190w is to big and heavy and the 95w doesn't have wnough juice in it in my opinion.

I was planning on buying the Switronix bats with the fuel display gauge. Has anyone here has experience with them ? Are they accurately showing the remaining batt time ?

This is not about the standard Switronix batteries. They will not communicate with the RED One. There are new Switronix battery models in 95w and 190w that do communicate with the RED One. They are different versions of the standard models.
