Yeah I think about that

Yeah I think about that

there has been some amazing documentaries on how much more this is going on, I think it was Frontline or Nova (to lazy to look it up) did a whole thing on this.

A bit off topic, from my off topic : - )...

But has there been a Frontline of Nova shot with Red yet. Just Curious.

scary. I wonder how many cameras are watching us on a day to day basis

in U.K. home of totality 1984 vision, they have biggest number of surveillance cameras per capita in whole world... amen
:couch:

Surreal

Surreal

Well, that does not look realistic, doesn't it? Is there so much room down there?
Than again, anything can happen in our wonderful world...
reminds me of bogus youtube pranks...

I believe it's something like 6 per person. They do have installed for example, in changing rooms in shops and hotel rooms these days (all over the world). They're just not allowed to distribute them and they're supposedly to be erased almost immediately, but one or two interesting ones slips out on the net now and then.

Kind of freaks you out to think about.

I think this is real, but I don't know what the green ovals are.

I heard about this incident on network radio news. She gets out of her car, takes off her shoes, lies down under the train, gets up, picks up her shoes, goes back to the car. But no body yet has told me why on earth someone would do this.

Is it a failed suicide attempt? Thrill seeking? Some kind of protest? Ritual purification?

I really don't understand. Anyone know?

or she was just under influence of drugs or out of mind

I have no problem with surveilance cameras in public places. Just as long as they are sealed except under a court order or completely open to the public. One or the other.

whats scary is.. they (gov) could make anyone look like a criminal...

terrorist act caught on one of these cameras.. you can EASILY be put in as the terrorist or having involvement.. and then BOOM your done for.

If the government is doctoring videos to incriminate people then we've got bigger problems. :D

Which is why I would say that we should have a hash check on every video. Make the MD5 public for every camera every minute. If they try and go back to doctor a video even one pixel... no problem MD5 is changed. Evidence thrown out.

I wouldn't say that cameras should be accepted without considerations to freedom and privacy. Just that they aren't inherently subject to abuse. There are pretty simple steps which would make them 'safe' and constitutional.

Besides at this point in time I leave such an absurd data trail across the face of the earth it would be rediculously difficult to put me somewhere I wasn't. A digital alibi if you will.

Wonder how we even lived with out freedom of privacy?

Fredrick,

You mentioned 6 cameras per 1 person in the UK.
Just let us know if this is a joke or not...
Cameras in dressing booths? Hotel Rooms? Are you serious ?
I would never stay in a hotel like that...
but skynet, apparently, has well established itself.

In Cyprus there is a saying that a lie is like a dry stone wall and that the truth is like the small pebbles in the wall, holding together the big lies.

The problem with conspiracy theories is that they are often like this and often difficult to decipher or argue against.

It's not true that there are more surveillance cameras is London than people. But there are perhaps too many, and they do cost money!! http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/united-kingdom/090328/living-under-the-cctv-gaze

And it's true that they are supposed to be able to predict behaviour. From the BBC in 2002: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1953770.stm

It's also true that the met has face recognition technology but it's also true that (at least originally) it's crap! From 1998: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/facerecognition-cctv-launched-1178300.html

They also have CCTV in schools now: http://rinf.com/alt-news/contributions/mick-meaney/growing-use-of-cctv-in-classrooms/715/

Whether this is a breach of civil liberties or not? Dunno. It's certainly a breach of privacy. And definitely a waste of money. Although the alternative (in terms of crime reduction) is better street lighting, which I think most of us would like, since it means better exposure.

Remember the movie Wag The Dog. I think James Cameron long ago said you couldn't believe anything on the news anymore because visual effects had gotten so good.

Frankly, Gov't's have been lying to their people forever. But now it's more believable than ever.

Haven't you guys ever been in retail store dressing rooms that have a sign that says store personnel are monitoring the room you are in? I was last week. I don't believe it's illegal.
