How? You only have 2 batteries....
Hahahaha...
RougeDP! Once again ... What I want to Know is .... "Do you offer insurance as cheap as your RED-Rental (0.5%)?"

Sorry, I missed your question before. If you are under our insurance which does not permit any stunt photography, explosions, etc... $40/day extra.

Depends on how greedy one is and how high one's unnecessary overhead is. As I illustrated above, even at 150/day, one can make a living off rental. Now if you happen to be a DP as well, then your fee on top of that is gravy. Of course there are the sad DP's who believe that clients are only hiring them for their equipment. That's pathetic. Equally pathetic are the "gonna-get-rich-off-my-RED" renters who extort DP's and filmmakers. In any case, it's a supply and demand issue. You will soon see the rental rates for RED worldwide hit an average of $1000/wk for a decent package.

$150/day is ridiculous. I really don't understand how that can cover any costs of a business at all.

I don't think most of us fit this bill... Nor do I see how this has anything to do with camera package rental rates. As stated before, HVX/DVX rentals are in the neighborhood off $100-250/day.... That's normal here in the US.

No one is trying to extort anyone - Most of us are trying to run legit businesses either as DPs or rental companies or both.

It seems the average RED rental (pretty complete package with more than 2 batteries, more than 1 CF card and 1 drive) goes for about $800/day and $1000/3 days depending on location. That's just the norm and isn't extorting anyone.

Hey, more power to you if you can consistently get 800/day. Not sure why you compare the RED to an HVX... Completely different beasts. Most HVX renters wouldn't know what to do with a RED. You might as well compare with the rate of a generator or an automobile. Great to hear your business is "legit". Do you own a RED because you want to make heaps of money with it or is it a creative tool. Perhaps if you are only worried about enormous day rates and making money, there are other legit businesses you could be in. You could open a liquor store, a yoga studio, a doggie day-care center... etc...

Whoa! If someone wants to rent their RED for some ungodly low figure, all of the comments made are sure to come true at some point. Otherwise, maybe those points are wrong.

Good luck. Only one question: If your company name is ParisOnlyMedia, what are doing renting equipment in a totally different part of the World? :)

Hi,

I think this is the revoloution that everybody was talking about 2 years ago, now cheap cameras are a reality & still people are not happy! Just wait untill 10,000 Scarlets have shipped.

Ah Justin... Those HVX renters... They pay a premium for "ease of use"

You're right most HVX users probably wouldn't know what to do with the RED, but they sure the hell would wonder why their camera can't do all the same things the RED can do for the same price per day...

Just like to say thanks for coming all the way across the pond to under cut locals. Gosh, how do you make any money at all what with taxes and such. Got a work permit, or here on a tourist visa?
