  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Strap on shoulder pad group buy...

just to clarify, this is a pad that replaces red's shoulder dovetail completely? or does it somehow attach to it?

if it replaces red's shoulder dovetail and i don't need any additional hardware, i'm in.

i'd be interested

OK, here's the deal people...
The guy who is facilitating this has found some (8 or 9) of these in stock. I get the first two so the remaining pads will go to the first replies in this thread at the original price of $80 (plus shipping and applicable tax). He is starting a new run but the new price will be $99 (plus shipping and applicable tax). To purchase please send an e-mail to...

stu@thehouseofpower.us

Give him your name, address and the number of shoulder pads wanted and he'll reply with payment and shipping details.

P.S. I'm not making $5 each anymore:crying:

Dammit home boy, I missed out on the deal. For everyone else, try buying a pair of Home Depot Knee Pads and sticking those on your shoulder for some comfort.

If those who asked for two get two, then I am 8 so I guess I am last unless there are 9 available.

Evin, let me know if I made the lineup before I contact the maker please.

Oh, and I will buy you a beer to make up for the $5! :) EDIT: or a glass of wine if you make it up to Napa! Or my homemade ale if you prefer!

Abel is a dealer for House of Power. We'll see what we can do to make this available to you all through the normal channels of Abel, and with the best price we can do.

This is exactly what we used on ER. We used very similar pads on Southland - J. Michael Muro has some pads of his own based on a similar design.

That, combined with the Long Valley video rods on the front means that you can slap a QRP on the bottom of the camera and use a small matte box like the MB-19 to operate from. No handles, no obnoxious handheld system on the bottom... it's the lowest CG possible with the camera while still maintaining necessary functionality [matte box, follow focus, etc.].

It also doesn't slip out of the way like that little [for lack of a better name] filmtools pad. Not a fan of that one, personally.

Evin, thank you very much for doing this... I owe you and Brook a few beers (at least!) whenever you come to Chicago for all the great things that you guys have passed along.

My e-mail was sent and I will purchase two.

Is ET selling their LW rod system yet?

Cheers,

Andrew

Mitch that would be great. We also use the Filmtools pad but somehow would like to try something else maybe. It would be a great product and definitely a hot seller!

Evin I will take one too if I can get it before the end of the month.

Instead of Paypal I've heard and experienced good things with Google Checkout.

So, do we go through Abel or Stu? I'd like one of these as soon as they're available. I just missed out on the first batch.
