Okay, so here is the third timelapse video that I've done. All the day timelapse sequences in the beginning were shot with the Red. Using either Nikon lenses or the Zeiss ZF lenses. All the night timelapse was shot with the Canon 40D. I'm looking forward to the day where I could just bring out an Epic for a full day of timelapse and some night timelapse. Run time on the video is 5:14.

I have a couple links for you guys and gals (sure there's a couple on here).

WOW! That was incredible. Thanks so much for sharing.

I am guessing the cloud stuff at the beginning was shot on RED and the rest was with your DSLR?

Super Duper Awesome Great Job!

excellent ! nicely done ...

the music was great too ... so, can you say somthing about the music (composer, soundtrack ?)

Andrew, Awesome Sh!t!

All of it is great. I especially enjoyed the airliners coming into the pattern in a dance that makes you hope Air Traffic Control is fully awake or...... mushroom soup!

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

The one of the airport is crazy. What airport is that?

Amazing reel. What music was that?

Of course, I loved the airport shots. Where were you shooting from? I tried to do something like this last year but security is so tight around there I gave up.

3:30 - 4:15 was astonishing. Several of those look like shots of blood traveling through a body, only they are cars and the arteries are freeways.

I need to try some shots like these in the fall.

Make sure to post this at Timescapes in the Showcase Theater, Drew.

Its LAX which is a very busy airport.

The music is from the "Knowing" soundtrack and the track is "Caleb Leaves".

Security is very tight at the airport, which does make it a bit difficult to get these shots. But the location that I go to use to have a street light on and now it doesn't, which makes this much easier. Meaning that the last couple times that I've gone there I've been out there for 2 hours with no one rolling up on me. In the past cops would come up there to bust me. Still I'm very careful when I go up there because it is off limits...there's just no fence.

I've been making my rounds with posting this and I was just about to head over to Timescapes to post this.

how about other locations in the shots, any issues with cops downtown LA or anywhere for this?

I haven't had any other issues with the other shots in this video. Most of the time I'm shooting this stuff in the middle of the night. But when I have my Red out you are defiantly more of a target for the cops and generally people that have no idea what the laws are.

When I go up to the Griffith Observatory the rangers and the observatory staff sometimes gives me crap. But I can usually convince them that its okay for me to be there.

That is fabulous Drew. You are geting better and better. It works great with music. :drool5:
I am just at beginning of my TL experience. Thanx for inspiration.

any key phrases u r willing to share?

"This is for private use.", "This isn't a commercial project.", "I'm not making any money off of this."...to name a few that have worked for me. Of course it depends on who you are dealing with and where you are shooting. But of course you are going to run into some people that want to be total dicks and have no knowledge of what the laws say.

btw, what was the interval between the shots?

It varied between shots. Depends on what I'm shooting.

yeah, it's funny how different people in authority like to to press on it. i guess for some it's the only thing they have:)

was shooting a music video with some scenes on the Amtrak Surfliner. Had to ride a couple of trains. On one, the lady was super nice, she saw we were independent, looked like students and meant no harm, so she let us do our thing. on another train, we had an instruction on how we cant film trains, logos, or any people at all...

anyways, getting a bit off topic

It varied between shots. Depends on what I'm shooting.
say those airport night shots, or shots over freeway.i want to try something like this with 5dmark2 and just curious what is even approximate guideline to start off with.
i mean is it a shot every second or every 5...
just curious what approximate ones u used and what u based your decisions on for the numbers.

That works sometimes depending on who you run into. I've had the fuzz ask if I was recording sound and once I said no they said that it was okay for me to shoot there. If its a place that isn't some kind of security risk its a little easier. But sometimes you have to run the gauntlet to get a shot. Sometimes you get caught, sometimes you get the shot.
