Has anyone else been frustrated with how the power cable sticks out so far? I find that a lot of times it gets bumped, or pressure gets put on it- especially in tight quarters, or when getting low shots. I was also frustrated with how far the cable on the LCD stuck out, but that problem was solved by getting the EVF cable that has 90 degree connectors on both ends.

So does anyone know of away to make the power cable a 90 degree connection? Red does not sell such a cable on there site. I'd make one, except that I have no clue when it comes to such things, and I's probably break something .... I'd love a 90 degree "up" cable.

Any ideas? Or am I S.O.L.?

That is a great idea, it would also be great to see it for the data cable for the Red Drive. This would be very useful for splash bags, hand helds inside small cars, etc. Good thinking

Power cable

Power cable

The data cable for RED-DRIVE already has a right angle connector at one end and straight at the other.

There is no reason why a good wireman can't make a power cable using a right angle connector.

It would be a LEMO FGG.2B.306.CLAD82Z, the pin out is in the Operations Guide

The problem with the Drive cable is that if you put the right angle connector into the camera body, it interferes with the power cable. There's many times where I would have liked to put that end into the body but it just doesn't work.

what stuart said - get the LEMO Connector and a soldering iron and do it yourself. i did it one year ago and it works perfect. be sure to do a search on the forum before you start working, if i remember right there was something special to consider in the wiring?

Hmm- interesting comments and ideas. So it does sound like it is possible, it is just a matter of getting in touch with someone who knows how to do such things. What I would LOVE is a right angle up cable- while it might block some of the other ports, I'm not using them now anyway...

What Brook mentioned is that the Drive cable in Right Angle position blocks the Camera Power Port, and the Camera Power in Right Angle sticks out the bottom of the camera, which doesn't get you anywhere.

Well from looking at my Red - then maybe it needs to be a custom cable- there does seem to be room to have the cable go up at an angle but not block the drive port. Even if it does block the drive port, I'm using CF cards, and the drive port is not being used- so it would be nice to at least have that option...
