They said the same thing about the RED ONE.

Who you gonna believe? Some random dude on a different forum, or the billionaire founder of a digital cinema company on Reduser?

lol...awesome pic:thumbsup:

people are silly. That's why I take everything I read from people on internet forums with a grain of salt. There will always be cynics and skeptics.

:couch:

yes yes we are at the cucumber season, nothing is happening...we should get some panic...rumors....verbal action....we don't want people to fall asleep so let make a little panic

swine flu anyone?

Just been reading some threads over at dvxuser.com and came across this thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=169323&page=3

the last post suggests that people are thinking the SCARLET is vaporware? :yikes:
haha that guy is jacked up....he's just jealous...btw no matter what i'll wait for scarlet it's worth it

the forum that link is from is about the hpx from panasonic. how does that even compare come on people

Dan Brockett's a good guy and he wasn't saying Scarlet is vaporware, he was just making a joke. Still though, he has a point. He's not denying that Scarlet is coming out, but he's pointing out that listening to delivery dates and specs and poring over product PDF's is kind of pointless when you have no idea when or if the product will still be the same when it's released. It's also silly to make claims that an unreleased camera is better than what's on the market right now. It's not.

And it's kind of silly to dog on the DVX forum. Perhaps people have short memories but the Red forum was originally a section of DVXuser before it branched off. And here I thought you all had a strong sense of RED history. Guess I was wrong... :sifone:

Isaac makes a good point, and a while ago I went rummaging thru the archives looking at the first red posts. It shows the origin of the 'vaporware' joke and the first posts on the camera. I found it very interesting reading and I kept them as bookmarks so check 'em out.

JIM's first announcement

I remember those times - I too thought it would be vapourware until I found out it was Jim Jannard behind it! I thought it was funny how many people still thought it was a scam for so long - but really, what kind of billionaire would make an elaborate scam like that just for around a million dollars of reservations?

woah- so weird to read all that old stuff.
So strange that people that are now essential to Red didn't even know what was going on.
I like the old avatars people had.
Gibby's is still the same...

I think it teaches everyone a valuable lesson in cynicism (sp?!) and presumptuousness. It's one thing saying "I hope this is real".. and completely another saying "It's a scam" or "It's vaporware." with no evidence. It's almost insulting, and I'm amazed Jim has managed to keep his cool this far.

But then for some of these people to just turn around once they see it's not a scam and just lap up the rewards of Jim's hard work without apologising.. I don't know how other people's minds work but I would feel rotten about myself in that position.

There are too many trolls online who are just too negative and superior for their own good. Modesty really is lacking in some of those posts.

The big manufacturers (Sony) were obviously raping their customers with those camera systems. It was only natural that a much, much cheaper approach would come along. Such grotesque greed doesn't go unanswered.

my thoughts exactly!

It's must be a big surprise to you that Sony did not make a profit for a very long time, not really greedy at all, they have a high overhead.

I rummaged through that DVXUser thread (2005) and found a gold nugget:

I'm thankful to whoever mentioned that an even lower priced camera was necessary.

Scarlet is here because of you guys (and Jim listening to you all, of course).
