I need to think about cases asap! I'll probably go with two 3-lens cases so I'll have the capacity for the 18mm.

I'm thinking laser-cut Stormcase. Thoughts?

Red? I need to know diameter and height (with front and rear caps on) of all 6 lenses.

I'm thinking the stormcase i2750 with interior dimensions of 22x17x12.5" would work well for three lenses. I seem to recall the Red primes being about 8" long.

Is 2" of padding on either side with the primes in the vertical position (when you open the case) sufficient protection?

We are making a 6 lens ATA case that should be available mid May that will hold the entire 5 lens set plus the 300mm.

and yes, all the current lenses are all the same diameter, but different lengths.

I really think I want two 3-lens cases for
a) weight, these lenses are not light
b) not having all the eggs in one basket if the case gets dropped brutally
c) gives me the ability to do a lower-cost 3 lens rental easily.

Dang it! It sounds like I'll be getting my Red primes this month so I can't afford to wait for this. But in case timing works out, idea of cost? It'd be great to get the official case.

Can you please give the outer diameter and variable lengths? That should be well set in stone by now (I hope)

Jarred,
You should consider a case that holds the 6 Primes (including the awol 18mm) instead of the 300mm. You dont typically haul around the 300 with your primes. I prefer keeping the 300mm in its own case.

The drawback to a Two case system is much slower on set. Usually as a DP it's always a tough sell to some producers to go to primes over a zoom. The producer usually perceive primes as taking up more time on set and time is money as we know. So I want the fastest acting prime setup possible, nd a single case is the best solution.

Agreed. I already have the 300 in its own 300mm case.

Shawn,
I wouldnt wait...protect the lenses as soon as the arrive. "Official" cases are no different than what you can order from Innerspace, I highly recommend them.

I have a pelcian 1610 that should fit all 6 lenses quite securely.

235.00 at most places

Great advice. Innerspace is making the RED CASE :)

So they already have correct dimensions? I should be able to call them and get a 6 lens case?
