  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New German Primes: Price below 10.000 per set.

The set is in the €€€€ range - and i have no idea how many lenses they will include. I recommended as many as possible, however i told them i would pay €€.€€€ for a set and they certainly will take both aspects into consideration.
Just to clarify, they told you the price would be four figures but you told them you'd pay five figures so now they are thinking about changing the pricetag? I'm sure people will love you here lol!

Paul

I was looking at the same thing:yikes:;
Sometimes silence is gold...

With firends like that ...

well if red is cheaper and thinking of that a lot of the indy-redusers are based in the US and will not have to pay customs...

and on the other side the seem to be more expensive now german lenses with additional custom fees,
doesnt matter if buying directly from the germans or mitch, well then...

but when there is a new housing or the more expensive ibe lenses can deliver mechanically what i expect...well then...

probably going down closer to the 3 figure range would've been the option that would've had everyone going 'damn....:sifone: ' haha!
Ah well...

So Mitch, how many different sets of new lenses are you going to have at the Abel booth?

Matthew

More than two; less than twenty.

Forget what may have been posted here. I was just speaking with the manufacturer. Prices are not yet set. We are all in continuing discussions.

The lenses expand when adjusting focus but the front housings do not rotate, so polarizers are not affected. All the lenses will have matching front diameters.

Beta testers suggesting they up the price and distributors in discussion with the manufacturers about pricing doesn't sound too promising that these lenses will come in at the title threads pricetag. Does the one supposedly tangible fact that we've been given about these lenses costing less than 10k still stand Mitch? (Aside from being made in Germany :)).

All I can say is that I'm arguing to LOWER the prices in order to sell greater volume. We'll see how the chips fall. The more people express interest to us about what they would buy and for how much the more we can assess what can be done. I encourage all to come to the booth or to the REDuser event and check out the options. Better when you come to the booth as I suspect the REDuser event will be CRAZY!

You're quick Mitch, that much I'll give ya! I'd love to join you at the booth and check them out in person but sadly the little matter of work has reared it's ugly head, that and being a few thousand miles away. I look forward to hearing others points of view and seeing some pretty pictures as and when. Oh and by the way Mitch I'd be more than happy to pay a three figure sum for the lenses just to balance out Laguun's suggestion

Thanks
Paul

100% with mitch.

however, and i am afraid we are guilty, the manufacturers licked blood... the lenses have a expansion when focussing, besides that they are rather Ultra primes..

Laguun,
Just to clarify something by expansion do you mean the front of each lens extends or do you mean that each lens breathes when pulling focus?
Paul

The lenses physically expand when adjusting focus, but the front ring does not rotate.

The lenses do not breathe.

Can you tell us how much they expand (in mm)? Reason of question: can this expanding limit the use in a beamsplitter rig for s3D? Thanks

I don't know the range for all the lenses. I've seen a variety of beamsplitter rigs and I can tell you that these lenses would easily fit into most if not all of them.

The question was not so much if they fit or not, but if because of the expanding during focusing we may have to re-move the camera itself to keep the correct distance to the mirror. Anyway in a few days I will see them:))

I just saw the Rebel IBE NAB brochure for these lenses. They mention Laguun's name directly on the brochure.

The prime set is only 3 lenses!!!!!!!!!!!!@#$@!#$@#$@#%

Laguun and the company he is representing has told us some miss-truths. These lenses are not coming from "one of the most recognizable lens companies in the world" as Laguun has suggested. They are coming from IBE.

3 lenses for 10,000 Euros and the lenses look like they are from 1956. They are so ugly I do not know what these guys are thinking. You guys just wait till you see them.

What happened to the 6 lens for 10,000 Euros? Or even 5 lenses?

I can't remember if this type of lies and deceit were normal in this industry before RED came to town. Do companies really think they can still get away with this?

I keep hearing it every week about Chinese Manufacturing now having better standards and processes than the Germans, and I am starting to understand why. German Engineering sure does not mean what it used to.

That was quite the Rant and I am sorry if I hurt any feelings. I just really hate being lied to.
