  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new RED Pro Program...

I am not an authority but yes they said the the Back focus will be adjusted in a VERY different way. The mount's will be solid, it's the sensor that will move. Again, I am operating on outsider knowledge but that is what was said.

Compare this setup to that used for slumdog millionaire - basically it`s the same size (except that the red has (no kenyon gyro) BUT a bigger lcd, better grip, fullframe s35 vs. 2/3 and onboard power AND recording ;-)

At gas mark 5 I think Dave. I didn't realize that expression had made it's way to Australia!

You guys must all be so proud.
I am very excited. I must admit I have fallen back into my bad "website refresh habit."

People talk of RED being a hype machine, but in reality you all simply let major advancements or press releases slip out conversationally as if mentioning to a friend that you had bacon for breakfast.

How incredible does this look? It feels unbeleivable to be seeing real life prototypes being handheld like this, is it now the time for me to be selling off my old gear?

You wouldn't believe how one photo could excite me so much...Its a good thing its one a day cause I don't think we could consume more than that. I may collapse.

I was getting used to the great flange focal depth adjustement RED pioneered. :sarcasm: Did you drop that on this model?

Yes, they're dropping that system... The new method is supposed to be even better and easier.

Sound too?

Even if it doesn't have sound, adding the XLR module would make the camera still smaller than an HVX/HPX170- It would be roughly the size of a XM2...That's more than Ideal for most type of shooting... (Of course, if the rumour of the modules not needing to be physically connected is true, one could POCKET the Sound module, keeping the DSLR form factor...Imagine the possibilities!)

I almost fell off my chair when I saw that pic.

Judging by the eyeglass reflection I'd guess it's OFF. I smell non-working mockup :(
Anyone with super shapening/uprezzing skills up to prove me wrong? :D

Yeah I'm going crazy...

I guess you just answered the question "What happens when you stare at a truely amazing picture for far too long?"

Yeah I'm going crazy...

True that!

Dude, if I have learned anything in this several year Red/RedUser journey is that nobody in Red pretends: Renders are renders, Reality is real--no matter how amazing it will look. They have no need to fake anything.

Just find something else to do rather than studying the same picture--who knows. maybe watch American Idol or something--take your mind off it.

Edit: Wait. Your in Spain... Watch Spanish Idol then! :)

I took it straight into photoshop (since that seems like the thing to do around here to try and find whatever we can in the pics):sarcasm: From what I can tell at the top of his glasses you can see his hand reflected, so that would be lower than the LCD...so, working or not...don't know.

No new stuff today? Post something...?

Pleeeeeeeaaaaase?

Man, I have inherited Leitz lens and old Lieca camera from my dad (since 1939) and I collected all Leica lenses and M cameras (including newest M8), I'll not use anymore!
Kind of sad to leave silver halide photo history and leica's invention of 35mm film history.

My favorite 35mm point and shoot is still an old Leica 3G rangefinder. No reason not to keep and use the lenses on new digital Leicas.
