  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

http://canonhack.com/

Quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

"I work for a bank in Nigeria..."

"I own the rights to the Brooklyn Bridge..."

"Pay me and I'll try to figure out a magical way to make a Canon DSLR do something..."

What is the closest Canon competitor to the 5D Mark II in video anyway? Does it offer selectable frame rates? Superior codecs? Manual aperture/shutter control? Can you stick an f/1.2 lens on it? Does it have a single 3.5mm mini plug for external mics? Can it shoot virtually noiseless in low light?

I'm sure the 5D Mark II would run Canon into bankruptcy, if they let it be all it can be.

yeah that's totally silly. I'd argue that just about any decent prosumer HD camera plus a nice 35mm lens adapter could deliver the same level of imagery as the 5D in video and best it in manual control and usability. And that's out of the box without hacking/bribery and voiding your warranty. :)

I don't believe that combo will come as close in lowlight though.

If you're going to spend $9,000 on your camera surely you can afford to a few light bulbs at the very least. :shiftyph34r:

I can't wait to see the next update on that site...

"Dear Readers, You've all been duped. I took the money and went to Hawaii. I've never touched a 5D, not even a photographer. Thanks for the $10 grand!"

It's only pledged money. I gladly would pay 50 bucks for such a hack. But good hackers seem scarce this days.

I would love to have 9'000 bucks to drop at a camera. But I would prefer the Ikonoscope then. Adapters are a pain to work with.
