  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is it possible to take off the 15mm clamp piece as well as the piece that goes between the 15mm & 19mm clamp pieces? It looks like the 19mm bit could fit directly with the top part...this would allow a lower profile, closer to the rods, good for working with wider-barrel lenses. It looks as though this may already be inherent to the design, but I couldn't find anything written on the website that suggested such.

Nice work, Brian. This may have just solved my follow focus dilemma...

There are no pictures posted of the upgrade or any details about what's included in the upgrade on the RR purchase page.

Brian, can you clarify what the upgrade is? Thanks.
 
Hi everyone

Phillip - to clarify the upgrade kit is to convert your v1 follow focus to v2. it uses only the gearbox, gearbox cover, and focus wheel. Everything else is new to the v2 kit.

Shawn - If I had an extra $5k then I love Arri as well. the microFollowFocus is an affordable professional follow focus that used on many sets and productions - machined alunimum, film pitch gearing, quick release clamps, etc.. Maybe not your cup of tea which is fine, but certainly more than a kid's toy.

If I were to order the microFollowFocus 19mm Bundle now, how long do I have wait. I'm in Malaysia. Would it be possible to get it before the 24th February 2009. I have a shoot starting then.

The "Upgrade" option doesn't seem to be very appealing if my maths are correct....

BUY NEW:

£524 for new FF2 + 19mm clamp bundle

OR

UPGRADE

£365 for FF1-->FF2 upgrade + 19mm clamp



So if I can sell my existing FF1 for £159 or more, I'm onto a winner....should be doable



Further to that, $245 for a 19mm clamp when I've just been using a Red Universal mount at half that price...That means all I'd be getting from the extra £300 odd would be a slightly lighter unit, quick release, and 3D focus ring. Doesn't seem worth it to me.
If the damn gear box was being improved so there wasn't the 1cm of play that I get now, then it might be worth thinking about!

There has been a new gearbox out for quite some time.. you can swap it out on your existing redrock ff.

Yeah I paid the $75 odd for the "new improved" gearbox 6 months ago, but doesn't seem to have made much difference to me.

If you, or others, tell me that they're not getting any play from their upgraded gear box, I'll assume mine is duff and send it back
 
Pete - contact our support group support at redrockmicro.com and they can get a new one out to you. 1cm of play is definitely not right.
