is the 15" Mac Book Pro good enough for a Red DIT. i'm currently using the 17" and love it but i have 2 cameras and a friend of mine who would like to go out with my second camera is about to get a new lap top. i've told him to go with the 17" but he wants the 15".

I'm sure you're aware of this, but the 17" allows 1080 viewing, which the 15" does not. Otherwise they're the same, I think.

With the right accessories, it will be good enough for many shoots. There are a few smaller jobs where I leave the cart at home and still get it done on a 15" MBP or two.

From a graphics performance per pixel perspective, the 15" is a better buy [as the 1080p 17" uses the same graphics card as the 15" model].

Actually, the new 15" is superior as Apple has not updated the 17" model in the last round of changes. The new 15" MBP has superior graphics and internal bandwidth. The only reason to buy the 17" version at this time is the extra screen real estate and it is available with the matte screen option. Otherwise, it is the inferior product... As of today, who knows about tomorrow.

That said, I can still do a lot on my 2 year old 15" MBP. I plan to upgrade once Intel / Apple start shipping quad-core CPUs in the MBP.

thanks guys, i just got a text from my friend saying he's gone with the 15" so it's good to know it will be ok.

The new 15" rocks I'm getting amazing playback frame rates.
