  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interesting information...

There are more pixels in the RED 617 Mysterium Monstro sensor (261,352,000) than there are rods and cones in both your eyes (126,000,000 x 2 eyes = 252,000,000).

Just in case you were wondering... :-)

Now if I only can get rid of those darn floaters in my eyes! :)

Jim, I have seen the lenses that go on that monstrous sensor. They are smaller than the sensor size. Shouldn't a much bigger lens be used to cover that area... im thinking atleast bigger than the thing itself. It would be interesting what an image a sensor that size can generate. It's like.. here is what is closely defined as your eye. but then again.. we do have lots of cones and rods.. but our eye can only take into account for the mind to process an area not more than a few words.

hmm. I guess I won't be owning one like that for a loonnnggg time. :w00t:

Jim - could you do 3d with one sensor? seems neat and tidy to me.

No problemo:

"Olhado" from the Ender series becomes that much more of a reality.

I know you're being coy, but I'm supposing this would need to be accomplished optically, but supported by the firmware on the 617... or maybe one of the other cameras as well?

Why not do this now on the Red 1? Anyone remember that lens for the XL1/XL1s that could do 3d? I never saw the result, but if it could put 3d on a XL1s SD chip, surely we could get that on Red!

Wouldn't want to render the 3d scarlet mount obsolete! Although, I'm quite sure you will get much better results at this stage in technology with the separate cameras/optics.

so its more real....than real? You sure this thing isn't going to open up some portal into the 3rd dimension?
