Hey guys, I did a search on here looking for anyone that had flown a RED on a RC heli and saw a couple static photos of a heli with a RED mounted onboard but does anyone here know if a RC heli has actually flown one?
I ask because I have a client that requires we fly one and I was curious to see if others had done this yet and to see if they had any setup advice etc. So far I have trial fitted the camera and we are flying similar sized cameras right now so I am not worried about the size or mass but there are a few things I am not sure how to handle.
1. How to downlink view to our monitors for the camera operator. As I understand RED only outputs a HD signal and does not down convert internally so we would need an external downconverter.
I am actually thinking about mounting a small CCD right next to the lens to approximate the view of the camera but this would be less then ideal.
Any other tips on keeping this thing as light as possible. For power I will be running it off of the helicopters flight batteries so I can save the weight of the RED brick.
If you would like to see a shot of the setup and some in flight video checkout

I am excited to get this thing up in the air and see how it does. From what I have seen I think it will do great.
Thanks for any help
