Fellow Red fellows,

My friend and REDuser, Kevin... "KLang" lost his closest friend and business partner "Chip"... Robert Alfred Monk, in a tragic car accident last week.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Chip just a week before his passing.....

And I can say without reservation he was one of the nicest guy's I've ever meet, as well as a talented DP and Steady Cam Op.

Chip was very excited to be shooting on a RED, and I know he had a great time on that set.

Here's a link to the shoot....

And here's one with some stills...

It's times like these when we're reminded how fragile our lives are and how quickly our world around us can come crashing down.

Kevin my thoughts are with you and Chips loved ones at this sad time. The loss of a Husband, Father & Best friend is a tough challenge to face.

Best to wishes to Kevin, and Chips wife and daughter.

For those that may be so inclined....

Let's hope Kevin returns to REDuser soon.

Thanks Jaadgy,

But for the record, the train shot was Chips, but not the others on that page. Chip was only there a few days.

Chip did get some other great shots though, some of them Steady Cam....

When Kevin is feeling up to it, I'm sure he'll post some of the footage.

That's really sad, my condolences also to his family and friends. There are few words to type in a forum to really express one's dismay for another's loss. My thoughts go out to all those affected.

That's really sad... Only a week...

Nice stills though.

Very sad. My condolences to family and friends.

Very sad indeed. My sincere condolences.

Such a sad thing to happen to Chip and his family & friends. Someone told me recently that the RED users are "just like a family" and I truly believe that. All of you guys are wonderful caring people.

Sincerely,
Michelle (friend of Steve Tammi)

That's awful, Kevin, so sad to hear that. Losing close friends, especially people you collaborate with, is the worst. Our little tribe is smaller by one. So much lost potential. Now every time you shoot you're carrying the banner, thinking "what would he do now? Oh man, bet he'd be laughing at all the things we're doing wrong..."

Kevin, keep shooting and make your friend Chip proud. Every time you do something good because of something he did or told you, means that he is still making a difference in the world.

Please pass on our condolences to his family. It looks like Chip made some good friends in his life though - and those friends will be there to support the ones he loved.

That's a really tough break. A friend of mine lost his son to cancer a couple weeks ago. It does remind us how fragile it all is. My sincere condolences.

Everyone here in Central FL who knew him is still reeling. I was planning on working with him too. It couldn't've happened to a nicer guy. What a horrible, horrible tragedy. He was on the road to a job, too.
