Absolutely, all RED One owners can purchase an EPIC X and keep their RED ONE. It's a one time deal.

But wasn't this a question about whether RED ONE owners could trade in for a "special package" that includes the modules for 28K with a 17.5 trade in value?

David

For the record, adding some features (or putting back features you had and then removed) doesn't count as "everything changing," nor does it render the Nov. 13 announcements "insignificant." If anything, it's made Nov. 13, and the DSMC system, MORE significant.

Don't get me wrong, love the new features, and as a RED One owner I love the Epic-X offer. I just think that Jim overstated the case a wee bit on this one. Probably could have just dropped the new features on us when you had them, rather than building them up for a week and a half.

That said, I'll totally be getting an Epic-X, and at LEAST one fixed-lens Scarlet kit. Glad to see that back and still in the HVX-killer range.

I wonder why the 2/3 Scarlet is "cinema" and the others are "DSMC".... would that mean that, perhaps, the 2/3 Scarlets can't take stills?

realllllly stooooopid question ....:)

ok. This is sick. But two questions.

What is Quad-HD, and what exactly does FF1080p mean?

It is still 1-120 fps, so 1fps=picture.

Man,

Can you hear that hype machine being revved up!!!!!!!!!????????
The product line has gone from ONE to TEN cameras......
Not one manufacturer has been unchallenged. Mamiya, Hassleblad, Fuji, It's a full assault on the entire digital camera industry.

FF 1080P means 1080P from full frame... scaled not cropped.

Actually, my question was could a RED ONE owner get the same EPIC X package (minus the $17.5K discount) and keep their current RED ONE?

The answer being "yes".

Yeah. . . I honestly don't see what's special about the Epic-X except for the cool new look. Perhaps the specs will be spellbinding, but right now, it has no attraction to me at all. I want Monstro-sized dynamic range. . . I'll upgrade our two RED Ones until we can do the trade in to Monstro-based Epics.

I am still hoping that they'll release a SS35 Monstro. That, however, does not seem to be in the cards, so we'll have to "make do" with the FF35 (which holds like next to zero appeal to us).

Stephen

I think that's why even the Scarlett Monstro started to look good. Monstro specs.

I think FF1080P means its scaled from the full chip not windowed. should speed things along and make scarlet and epic very handy in multiple environments where speed is the most important thing. this is a great feature. FF35 Scarlet dropped in price too , 9,750 instead of 12k , wow

FF1080P means the output is 1080P read off the full frame sensor (not windowed). Onboard scaling processes involved. Perhaps that's why it caps off at 30fps.

Thank you Jim!!!!!!!!!!!! and Red!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much!!!!!

Thank you!

Nice changes! Anyone else notice the new REDcodes? The amount of options are off the scale. Time to start saving...

Thanks RED, and more immediately important, thanks for posting this EARLY...now I can get back to work!
