There will be quite a few pleasant surprises on Dec. 3rd. But one thing should be kept in mind. You have to pay extra for frame rates. It is fairly easy and inexpensive to build a 5fps camera these days. It becomes quite a different story to get 30fps. 100fps is exponentially more difficult.

It isn't just the sensor, although that is a big cost. Passing large quantities of data requires a significantly more complex electronics package and heat management program. Add lower quantities of production to the mix and buying frame rate capability costs more. A lot more.

We are very excited about the updated release and I can't see anyone being disappointed. But keep your expectations in check for a couple more days... if possible. :-)

Jim

Thank you Jim and all.

Just out of curiousity, what is so significant about December 3rd? Is it a legal thing or market timing? Like I said, just curious. Can't wait to hear the news.

Does this mean get ready for paying more?

A nice reality check.... should keep the "I expected the moon" posts doun.

afterthought: not saying what you will be delivering won't qualify as a moonshot, but at least everyone knows it will come at a cost.

It's wednesday! Which happens to be the day I was born on! What are the odds!!!!?

(1 in 7 actually)

so as far as we know right now the 3rd will give us new specs on all the scarlet and epic family members' frame rate options. Wonder if there is going to be a cheaper FF35 Scarlet that can do amazing stills but only do 24fps video or something like that... we'll see, whatever it is, I'm for it! Haven't been disappointed by any RED announcement thus far.

So Jim,
How soon will we be able to see some Scarlet footage?

How about 14 Bit A/D Converters in the Scarlets?

I posted this on another thread but,

Skip Mysterium-X proceed straight to Monstro? Do not pass Go?

That would be cool if the prices remain for the camera line up if not cheaper of course. :whistling:

I'm sure is going to be option for every user.

Low, middle and high.

Also in between each of that.

And of course the more money you spend the better camera you get!

Right?
