Hi all,

Just to let you know about a company called cramped attic http://www.crampedattic.com.

David Hable, the owner, has been doing custom cables and modifications for the steadicam community for years and I feel that people here should know about him since he can do every RED cable you would ever need in any configuration possible. He just sent me some RED power cables for my PRO sled and they are great. He also does audio, remotes and video senders.
He even makes a little RED "breakout" box" that allows you to hot swap batteries and plug high amp accessories like remote focus .
I also want to mention I have seen some of his cables going for way less than other manufacturers I'm used to deal with.

Small place, great service and great attitude is what makes this place a must have in your bookmarks.

•••I am not affiliated in any way with this place as I am just a regular customer and will probably only get a lousy x-small t-shirt out of this.
Cheers.

I just picked up some cables from David--

Awesome service, super nice guy, extremely pro.

Another good source is Terry West @ South Bay Film & Video Services
310-374-5711, 310-621-5063 in Redondo Beach, CA.

He made many custom cables for my RED including a P-tap power splitter box, one for my Cinetape, Modulus, AJA downconverter, RED to Glidecam V-25 power cable and many more.

Just another option for everyone.

Now go lay some cable.

alright, someone call these guys and get prices for the common ones, like:

battery turn around (so you can use that 10 foot cable that comes with your charger as a battery extension cord)

lcd: 4 feet for steadicam guys

lcd: 10 feet for the jibbers

drive: 6 feet for the guys using the battery belt clip

battery: 6 feet for the the guys who just realized how cool an idea that is.

and if they're posted and here, we know who to order from.

thanks for the info guys, I've been looking for someone to do a battery turnaround for months!

The drive cable cannot be over 2 meter in Length, its a limitation on the e-sata connection, I wouldn't be surprised if the speeds slow down as you approach 6ft and beyond, or lose a connection completely.

Would it be possible to convert the e-sata connection into a fibre optic or gigabyte ethernet line? And then convert back to e-sata when you get the distance you need.

6 feet is less than 2 meters, just barely...

Cheers,

We have just completed our own 6-foot Monstercine drive cable with double ferrous magnets and we're testing longer lengths now. The goal is to reach or exceed 9 feet for heli and other hard to access shoots, but maintain data rates... It's a complex challenge.

Generally speaking - no, it wouldn't. At least not without making custom hardware at considerable expense. And even then it might be asking a bit much.

Could you explain how exactly this battery turnaround works?
