"Add extra frame for FCP" option. Could you explain this function? Why we need it?
Hi Ibloom,
i've tried crimson with redcine but when i try and load the telecine xml it says error is this because it is the trail version?
thanks
peter
It has to do with the way final cut reads the in and out points off the roundtrip XML, it wants an extra frame of padding on the source file, without it, it will drop a frame that you want off the end. I'm going to try to revisit this problem around build 0.9.6 and see if we can't simplify this, but for now, in most workflows it's useful to have that extra frame handle and not a problem since the next system is performing the actual conform, that's why the checkbox is set by default. For a very few workflows it's useful to leave it out by unchecking the option.
You can control exactly how many frames you have on each clip by setting the start and end frame handle options which can also be negative numbers such as Endframes = -1.
I tried to uncheck the option "Add Extra Frame for FCP" but when I hit "Export Redcine XML" it automatically checks the option, so I can't uncheck it in any way...
Anyone?
Hmmm...
Well temporarily you can turn on handles and set End Frames to -1

Ian,
What is the status of Crimson in light of the native FCP support and upcoming Abobe native support? Will you continue to develop Crimson?
Thanks.
I'm looking forward to the Adobe workflow. I think I will use it myself.
