  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: RED Final Cut Studio 2 Installer

Thanks Hans,

Unforunately, I have every last version installed but I can't drag anything to the window.

Rainer Fritz has the same problem and like me he first installed the RED FCP plugin before running the pro aplication update, this might be the source of the problem.

Any solutions to this?

I did the same thing. Simply re-installing the plug-in, after the update, fixed it for me.

Not working here, I might have to reinstal the whole damn thing.

It should not be underestimated how significant this is.

All reservations about the Red post flow should be dissolved at a stroke.

We're slammed in our suites at the moment, but did have time to install, import, and color grade in Color one clip. Everything worked perfectly!

So is this flow working? I have an entire feature cut w/H proxies :excl: I sure hope it's as easy as hitting "send to color" 'cause that will make for an exciting weekend of grading :excl:

They're no longer proxies...they're fully self contained QT movie files.

I think I'm doing everything correct, but when I get to color, my clips have red x's and don't play. They seem to be unlinked? Any help?

Also, where does one find the RED tab in color?

This is a HUGE STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION! The next revision can only get better. I'm hoping that with FCS3 we can dissolve most of the limitations on resolutions.

I downloaded last night, but have not had time to play with this yet myself. I'll do some playing with it this weekend to see how it works out.

I think the author of Clipfinder has just figured out a way to take a timeline cut with proxies and get the new-style L&T files in so you can send to Color.

So, do I misread this, or is it possible to cut from the cam-proxies and "send to color" for an online from the RAW files? In case, that'd make my day (or two... :) )

Can someone confirm something about the signal chain in Color? WHat color"space" and bitrate we will be working on in color, and what kind of 4k to 2k conversion is going on?

Well, there's plenty of post facilities that can't or won't use FCP. Sometimes they have a good reason.

I think the next step is going to be getting Avid XML or EDL into FCP with a pull-list, so you can edit in Media Composer and conform in Color. Unfortunately conforming in Color is going to require touching FCP for the moment for those folks.

I have just tried it side by side with the new "quicktime contener" on the same sequence. it does work very well you have access to the red metadata.
"send to color"... boom ...done
