  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: RED Final Cut Studio 2 Installer

It's still log and transfer for FCP.
No R3Ds native on the timeline :(

Although you have to go through log and transfer, you can now select "native" as a preference. This just puts the file into a quicktime wrapper which is about as time consuming as ingesting DVCPROHD footage. A HUGE improvement!

Thank-you RED!

(Ironically, I just finished editing RED footage for the first time :) )

this definitly one of the best news ever...it did take a while yes...but now its here....i hated the transcoding to prores times...
the qt 3.5 was really good...this is awesome.

And here I was, waiting for the Adobe plugin, not wanting to give up my Apple workflow. Seriously Red.. Can I marry you?

And it works! Grade in 12 bit RGB at 2k. Pretty Awesome.

It says "supports up to build 17", so not yet for 18.

That I can totally live with, just wanted to clarify that it wasn't a typo.

I tested with R3D B18 files and it works.

Hey guys,

What if we have a project already cut on FCP using downconverted R3Ds? Any idea how to relink to the new workflow and CC in color with my timeline?

it works on my mbp
did you do the pro application update from apple?
you need fcp6.05

---edit you were faster..hehe

Got it working.
I can't see that it's a viable option, though, without a an additional very large hard drive the same size as the R3D files, because the QTwrapped files that FCP makes are about the same size as the original R3ds.

Do you still need to render to do a simple cut on a well-specced Mac Pro, anyone?
