  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Clipfinder 2.1 final version released

Hans your software is really great.... one question:

could you please add the --reelID, --NR, --black (curve settings) redline option ?
for fcp users could the reelid a good option, as to change the noisereduction, and for sure the blackpoint adjustment specially when you render to prores....

the overkill would be to assign RSX files. for example when i have three different RSX files that i can individually assign them fast to a clip.

that would be great....

thx

Hey Rainer, is the 8 character for FCP so that when you media manage it works well. Just curious where this helps as I do not seem to need it in my workflow, but I don't media manage (although I should and may in the future), Just been burnt by it too many times :) I have seen it talked about on these boards and just wanted to know where it helped. P.S. forgive my ignorance ;)

thanks

okay I did a little searching and it seems the 8 character thing applies to EDLs not xmls (which is why so many people are using xml today.) Can someone clarify this, I am insanely curious about the whole thing (especially since I have never used the 8 character setting to render red files and want to make sure I am not hurting myself later. Although I have conformed many projects and not run into this, but I use a much less sophisticated form of conforming ;)

thanks in advance

Hi Hans. Great software!

I have a problem though on my Mac Pro. On my MacBook Pro it works fine, but on my 8-core Mac Pro (and two others I have tried) I cannot set the output path for Quick Render. I select a folder, but the path field remains blank. Even if I type a full path into the field, trying to start a render does nothing.

Anybody else had this same problem and found a solution?

Nick,

People have occasionally reported this and I have never been able to determine conclusively what the problem was.

Is it possible that you have not yet created a preset ? You'll need to do this before the path field has any effect.

If this is the cause, please let me know.
Otherwise, can you send a screenshot ?

Cheers,
Hans

I think you could be right. I'm currently on my MacBook, not the Mac Pro, so can't test. I'll confirm later.

If the need to create a preset is documented in your online manual, then I do apologise. I'm not a big reader of manuals, as I like software which is intuitive (as yours is) but that can mean missing some subtleties!

Thanks for the quick response.

Many thanks

Many thanks

simply best integration for workflow I ever seen.

Clipfinder+Automator will make my day man!!, now I can see what i´m doing, power to the thumbs!!!

And the ability on-Set to see all cips on Folder at one time.... Waaa, you rule man. I begin a Film in some weeks and this would make my day every day. I spend hours trying to find a shoot after this.

Thanks a lot. I wanna donate if you allow, really.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm happy that it's useful.
If you like this version you will love the next one.

As for donations... I give in.
You can now donate via my website.

Many thanks

I'm guessing the image on your web page gives us a little preview of what will be available in the next version. Interesting. Looking forward to it. Looks like Red Alert functionality built right into your app, using the SDK I assume. Any chance of adding VOUT support so we can preview via Blackmagic or AJA cards? Now that would be amazing!

And yes I will certainly be donating.

Clipfinder feature request

This is a fantastic app, and really useful to me on set for quick review of shots over the course of a number of days. My assistant is inputting scene/slate/take information into the comments field to help keep organised. It would be amazing to be able to export this information, together with the filename, into a text / csv file. In fact several comment input fields could be useful, for scene / slate / take / lens etc information. This would be a great supplement to the camera report for post production.

Is It possible for Clipfinder to Save an XML pointing to R3d Files instead of Different Proxy Sizes?

Like I offline with Proxies in FCP,
Then Export XML,
open in Clipfinder Conform XML to R3ds,
save XML,
then Open XML in After Effects.

So you have R3d's instead of _F in AE.

Right now I'm able to create a new XML Pointing to _F. Then i replace footage to R3d's Manually for each one.

It seems easier to Composite with 4 k R3d than 2k tif dpx or Uncompressed.

Hi, first of all congratulations for the excellent app you made(even though I mainly use it for quick-viewing footage on set only).
I wonder if this is possible: export an fcp xml where the timeline's footage is transcoded prores(through rushes), import in clipfinder, add an _M to all files and re-import the xml in fcp, thus replacing the transcoded material with the proxies. Maybe it can be done in other ways than clipfinder(an xml trnslator or something) but I dont know of any...
thanks

Lim,

Due to an illness in my family, which has absorbed a lot of my energy, the release of Clipfinder 2.2 has been delayed.

If you are prepared to help me with alpha-testing, please send me a PM with your e-mail address.

Cheers,
Hans

Petros,

Yes, the latest official version of Clipfinder can conform from transcoded quicktimes to proxies:
- select "Run conform on FCP XML file" from the Edit menu
- set "Clip Directory" to the directory that holds your R3D source files
- check "replace clips with ... proxies" and set the desired proxy resolution
(everything else as described in the Help Pages)

Cheers,
Hans
