Baraka Blu-ray released!

Is there anyone else here waiting for their shipping copy?

I'm so excited! Judging from the reviews this seems like one of the best transfers released on Blu-ray so far with its Todd-AO format scanned at 8k!

Another BD to look out for is How The West Was Won, shot on 3 strip Cinerama (3 x 6perf 35mm).

Amazing, amazing. This is the first I have heard of this! I'm going to take some time and read about it and try to get my hands on a nice copy. Yeah, seeing this in 70mm projection would be epic.

If you are worried about the film going downhill, check out a screening of something like Lawrence of Arabia. It still looks damn gorgeous projected at 70mm!

I once watched a very magenta 70mm reel of Lawrence with Freddie Young the cinematographer at a BSC show/party.

Very cool. I saw a very clean, pristine 70mm print at the Aero in LA. One funny thing about the screening at the Aero. When Young's title card came up in the opening credits, the theater burst into huge applause! I was like, "WTF.. cheering the DP?"

What kind of glass was Baraka shot on, or 65 mm and 70 mm for that matter? Regular 35 mm anamorphic/spherical lenses or something else altogether?
