Hi all,

I am trying to cut a TVC shot in 3K 16:9 50fps build16 with FCP 6.04.

When i select REDCODE in the project settings the proxies play without a problem until i import an audio file in the timeline. Then FCP crashes!! I tried mp3s and AIFFS but they all crash it.

After the Crash i get the message that the problem might be with REDCODE...

Anybody knows how to fix this? I am new to FCP and have no idea how to work around this.

Miltos

I tried cutting the sequence without audio but unfortunately after a couple of cuts FCP crashes again.

Is it the 3K 16:9 ?? Is it the project settings? What is it?

This never happened when cutting build 15 footage with FCP 6.02... Anyone from RED knows anything?

Please help!

You're not cutting with those small reference files are you?

Miltos, Can you email me?

I find working off of those small reference files to be buggy and slow. Unless what you are doing is very simple and small, I'd recommend the Crimson workflow. Which, at a simple level is this.
1. Take all your _M reference files and, using Compressor, make indepedent ProRes 1k proxies out of them.
2. Edit your project using the new proxies. This is very fast, like editing SD
3. Then use Crimson to take your finished timeline and convert to something high (such as 2k ProRes or 10bit DPX sequences)

well... considering how urgent it is to cut this sequence today i might as well do what you suggested if Deanan can't help. Only problem is that i never tried this workflow and it might take more time to set everything up corectly.

Thanks for the suggestion

Would you be kind enough to tell us how this problem was solved ?
I am sorry to ask you this but everywhere we hear about issues of different kind and the forum should be not only for you but for others that could learn as well,
Thank you
