ps. I'm sure a Kona 3 would fix the 30->24p "problem".
NOT the other way around, like Canon and Nikon.
It appears they (Canon) had movie-mode ready when they launched 40D a year ago.:shiftyph34r:Not so sure about this. Canon has major knowledge in video and color treatment
Not so sure about this. Canon has major knowledge in video and color treatment. More than RED. They have their stuff ready, sometimes it glances through, even in consumerproducts like a HV20. My problem with them is they only release it if someone other does first.
If it's h.264, then it's also 8bit i think.
Not really. 30p does NOT convert to 24p well. I recently had to deal with this on a concert DVD I shot in 30P on XDCAM HD...and then later they decided they wanted to do a theatrical promotion of the DVD, which required a 23.98 DCP master.
Not even a Terenex does it. 30i to 24p, yes, but not 30p.
In the end Compressor of all things gave the best results with its motion compensated framerate conversion, more or less morphing frames. Took 50 hours for an 80 minute concert.
