I have just released Clipfinder 2.0, featuring clip browsing with list and thumbnail views, a loupe for viewing clip details at 100% magnification, annotation features, rapid Final Cut import, support for Automator Actions and a simple conform feature for Final Cut projects.

Clipfinder 2.0 is free and is available from http://www.daun.ch/software/Clipfinder2.0.zip.
For more information, have a look at the Help Pages, which also serve as a user manual, at http://www.daun.ch/software/ClipfinderHelp/index.html

Oh yes, before I forget... Clipfinder requires Mac OS X 10.5 (sorry !)

Enjoy

Man you're awesome !!

I already liked Clipfinder 1.0, but this one takes it to another level...

Only issue is I get an error when trying to open the clip in RA (double-clicking on the file) :
AttachAScript Error
Error -25211 occured the OpenInREDAlert(/Users/...../A003_08258S.RDM/A003_C005_0825BV.RDC/A003_C005_0825BV_001.R3D) call:
Thanks for releasing this app.

Nils.

Thanks for the kind words.

You'll need to "enable access for assistive devices" in System Preferences under "Universal Access".

Hans - Thanks for this wonderful tool. I have three clips which I imported. Only one have the data displayed and can be read by REDAlert clicking it. The other two does not display the data ie dates, size but show as a R3D file in red and cannot play any proxies. Is there a file that your program access to capture the data? Lim

Absolutely great tool! So much better than opening clips in quicktime player.

It does crash regularly on my MacBook though... and it can't open clips in RedAlert. Any way I can help?

Do you have the current version of the RED QuickTime codec installed ? (see in the Help Pages for Clipfinder under "System Requirements")

Can you have a look at the Help Pages under "System Requirements / Known Problems" and "Opening Files in REDAlert" ? If that does not address your problems, can you PM me with details ?

This has got to be one of the most useful apps a Red Owner could have. What a timesaver. Thanks so much for making it. Can't wait to try the conform.

Yes, that works!

Yes, I can play the proxies and input to RedAlert natively. Lim

It crashes on my MacBook if I leave the Loupe window open and browse through clips. Other than that I wished I had this tool a long time ago.

Strange...

Off the top of my head...
- Are these older files (pre build 16, maybe)?
- Have you left the folder structure intact, (R3D file plus proxy files must be inside the .RDC directory, separately for each clip) ?
- What system are you on (OS version, Mac model)?
You can PM me for details; maybe a screenshot would help.

Will PM detail - definitely B16 release version. All files inside the .rdc folder. Lim

Edit - Hi Hans, just check. Somehow, the .RDC folder has an extra character after the clip numbers that created this problem. Will check why this was added in - Otherwise, the clips are imported fine - Lim

From all my debugging experience, the crashing seems to be caused by the RED QuickTime codec (version 3.0 is more stable than the current version 3.1, but then you cannot open clips recorded with the latest firmware builds...).
There are officially acknowledged problems with the RED QuickTime codec playing H-proxies (expecially with "high quality" enabled) of 4K material.
Does turning off "HQ Loupe" help ?

Cheers
Hans

No, I wasn't using HQ Loupe. Actually I think it happens even when browsing through clips and opening the Loupe a couple of times. Such a shame because it means the application will keep crashing if I use the Loupe.
