If you have, or are waiting for, your EVF - Purchase the EVF mount.

It has been said many times, I'm saying it once more. This IS a MUST HAVE. If you have the EVF, you have to have the ET EVF Mount. Period.

The craftsmanship is everything you should expect.

(I'm very excited about this "Godsend" piece of equipment.)

Thank you ET.

Hold yer horses...there is another option that is lower cost that I prefer, the Zacuto EVF mounting solution. It does things the ET one can't. I'll be doing a write up later on.

ET definitely is NOT a must-have. What is a must-have is something besides the Red POS default arm.

I wouldn't call the RED arm a POS. It works great and is made well. I just hate trusting it with the EVF (even though it has always worked fine, just annoying to adjust).

Glad you like the other option, I personally have to go with the ET mount. It's been around long enough, is so well designed and built.
IMHO - Sometimes, you have to bite the bullet and go for the more expensive "right now" option.

The Red Arm is not a POS, it's we'll made and it works great at what it was originally designed for.

Aside from dial indicators it's a great way to hold an on-camera LCD.

ET's EVF Bracket is a work of art and I'm glad that we have it every time I put my eye to the camera.

The Zacuto option is also 'right now', they are just doing a sub-par job advertising it.

The ET arm is indeed well made, but has a severe design limitation that I dont care for. That, and I'm personally upset at the price.

Shawn, I meant "right now" as in -

Right now it's expensive to purchase, I'm shelling out more dollars than maybe I want to right now. (As opposed to spending more down the road on replacements/repairs... new EVF...)

(BTW, not arguing in any sense.)

1190.00 $ ???? WTF??? That`s a horrendous price for such a simple looking contraption...how do they justify this?

Not really. Consider the value/cost of the EVF.

Use the EVF with the RED arm and then the ET mount.

Then there's the mount itself. It's well made, adjusts quickly and easily, is light weight.

IMO the price is fair.

Looking forward to your Zacuto writeup Shawn. At first glance it doesn't appear all that different to the Red Arm but I'm guessing the red locking wingnuts allow freedom around one axis for quick adjustment without undoing the whole arm itself?

what I like about, and is worth every penny, is the ET's mount is adjustable on the fly. you don't have to loosen anything to move the eye piece.

What I don't like about having the viewfinder on an arm is that if you're doing handheld and the viewfinder isn't on the same level/plane as the camera/frameline then it can be a struggle to keep your framing level (i.e. not Dutch). The ET bracket was a great investment for us - well worth the price, especially if you do lots of handheld.

ET's eyepiece leveler extension looks good, too. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

The Zacuto looks like the same concept as the Red / Noga arm - when you undo the brake it flops in every direction, then you hold it in place and lock it.

Et's mount has a fluid clutch, it moves smoothly and holds in place with no fuss. Other, adjustments are made on axis's that you choose depending on how you rotate the top bar and set it up.

I see it as essential, and something you will use for many years, worth every penny, but that's just me.
