What do you think on the icoming events, Iraq war it`s not so popular lately and I guess the Republicans are looking to refresh the formula of success, bringing more "War of liberty" or "War for a peaceful world".
Im not saying that Georgia and Russia didnt have problems on their own, but this could be a new bussiness relationship beetwen Russia and U.S.

Anyway, the supposed Irak war was to free the people of the dictatorship of Saddam, but I dont see America interseeding in the freedom for Tibeth, or even worse, China has a Comunist Goverment, but hey, they have cheap manufacturing... Even G.W.B. had a big smile on his face when arriving the Olympics.

I have nothing against China, but if the whole world boycott
the Olympic games until China Goverment had a resolution for the Tibeth sittuation, then you`ll be hurting their economical incentives, and have a reaction, make a change and hopufully make this a better World.

So, I`m sorry to inform you my dear Levan, that no one give a sh** about your country, as nobody does for Tibeth nor Irak nor any other small country (talking about countries and politians here), War sells, the next big event after the Olympics will be the war of your country (I really hope it solves). Prime time TV closes the Book, as my previous post, Footage and bussiness is what matter, not people lives. Deaths are just random numbers on the News.

So from here, I send you all my best wishes, I`ll keep a candle lit for all the people suffering in the world.

My input into this is just that WAR SUCKS!

be it the world wars, Iraq attacking Kuwait, or the US invading Iraq.

In war it´s the civilians who suffers (ALWAYS more than the soldiers), I have my two little kids sleeping in the next room, and God forbid they ever see any war.

War is useless, and should not even be the last resort, it shouldn´t happen EVER! No excuses!

Wars are almost exclusively started by people who are far far away from the frontlines, with no real threat of having to loose thei rloved ones, I have NO respect for people who start wars (it´s often difficult to establish just what starts a war though).

BTW: I am sure this post belongs in the Off topic section, although it is as important as it is.

It´s 2008... why are people still killing each other?

I really wish Russia didn't have veto power in the UN security council.

To me, the one killing the most is always the worst. There are no good guys, just badder guys...

Any civilians gettings bombs in their homes, deserves sympathy and consideration, whoever started whatever... Most often it wasn't the guys getting the bomb in their flat/car/restaurant/school/office who started it...

The russians are especially good at flattening cities regardless of civilians. You`ll notice that none of the european governments have made significant noises at the russians, because there is nothing they can do, or want to do, otherwise they`d be shouting out right now. - Russia have United Nations mandatory to have peacekeeping troops in this region and to protect civilian citizens from any aggression
- There is mostly Russian citizens living in this region
- what Georgian troops do outside their country if they telling us that this is Russia attacked them?
- Georgians used mass-destruction weapons (GRAD missile system) against civilian city Tskhinvali, over 2000 civilians was killed
- All that Russian government wants is to move Georgian troops back to their territory and stop fire.
- CNN, BBC and other major news channels shows us only one side of the story, but you can search for the other opinions in the web if you want to.

In a slightly humorous but shockingly relevant comment, I would say that this is a great reason to streamline the RED workflow Getting RED footage to the internet isn't exactly as easy as capturing DV to youtube...

Not that RED is trying to be the ENG solution, but I think we all agree that it would make conflicts like this excruciatingly palpable if we could see them in visceral quality, and the workflow right now sort of prohibits that.

Levan, I don't know if you have time to do all you need to in processing/grading/exporting/uploading, but if you are running and gunning, but perhaps it would be a solution for you to shoot 2k, upload raw to the web and let other community members process/output/upload/contact CNN to get more footage out there.

Perhaps a good use for Red Relay? Just a thought.

What I think is a pretty interesting piece of footage is our president, GW, sharing a chilli dog with 'Pooty-Poot' in china last night. Each of them responsible for how many deaths at that otherwise normal looking moment?

You could be in some real danger over there, be careful. Here I'm daunted by a price tag and hard drive space, add some flying bullets, Russian tanks, curfews, and Marshall law, not to mention the f***king terror of having your home and family in harm's way. The question of accessories seems pretty simple by comparison.

I really like the nature of these post pages that suggest community support for helping to post your footage. I don't have much to lend, but I would be proud to help somehow.

Yeah, I auctioned George Bush` soul on ebay several years ago, and promised the winning bidder I`d send it through a time space interface if they sent money to amnesty international. Someone asked me where I got it, so I told them Rumsfeldstinkskin, and that it was actually a long term lease, just until he dies, at which point the soul would be returned to its owner, Satan.. South Osetia, has been part of Georgia over 20 centuries, at least 8 centuries prior to time Russia has started existance. When Georgia was force to join Soviet Regime in 1921, South Ossetia was part of Georgia, it was before and have always been. And the name South Ossetia was given by Russia, if you are more interested by Stalin. ( fuck him, he was Georgian unforutunatelly. ) once againa RUSSIA HAS NEVER EXISTED NOT AS A NATION, NOT AS A COUNTRY, AND THIS PART OF THE WORLD WAS PART OF GEORGIA. if you are more interested, even Sochi, where Russia is going to have Olympics was part of Georgia when Russia has not existed. So please do not say that it is not happening in Georgia. But even it was some other country, PLEASE CONSIDER THAT RUSSIA HAS BOMBED 12 CITIES OUTSIDE THAT REGION, THEY HAVE BOBMED EVEN PARTS OF CAPITAL OF GEORGIA TBILISI.

There are mostly citizens of russia who live there, JUST BECAUSE russia gave them russian passports, during soviet times, and before that, and before russia existed ever this people around 40000 people had Georgian citizenship. and one more thing, in 1992 Georgians, more than 80000 georgians were forced to leave their home in South Ossetia, so if we return there georgians, even if you give passports to other 40000 ossetians, then most of the population would be georgians. So lets first return everybody to their homes and then decided who is majority.

Georgia has no mass distruction weaponry, we do not even have weapon to protect our 12 cities from russian bomb planes, so do not say that. we have entered the terrytory, which has always been our terrytory, and russia has no business in our country.

cnn, bbc and other major channels do show what is real, but not the whole picture believe me, this channels do have some influence from Russia, if you want the reality call your friends in Georgia. And about the web search, Russian organasied hackers have attached all georgian web pages, to keep our voice shut.

And one last thing, somebody here said he has nothing agains russians. I love russians, my wife is russian, I have many russian friends, and I love Russian literature, I love poetry, and everything about it. the only thing i hate is Putin, de facto president, who is threat not to Georgia alone, but to the world believe me. And Vladimir, honestly, your TV channels are lying to you, call your friends, ask. We have been watching your news, they even lie about your success militarry progress in Georgia. Only thing that russia is now doing is bombing our civilian cities, outside of the region. and Puting is doing this because he can do no harm to our brave soldiers and he is so mad about it. for over 20 centuries Georgia has been attached by many imperial agressors, even most scary ones, but we still exist and will exist and we are like SPARTANS, and what is happening now is exactly that, we are in between mountains, holding our possitions with small number of troops, and russia is coming with all the military.

I`m aware of that, but if the topic of this Thread were "There`s falling bombs over my house, what filter should I use in to off from keep blowm highlights".

What I mean, it`s a fair question but a little off from the context, Levan was sharing his fears of the future of his country with an international community he trusts.
