I was trying to view Red one QT on a powerbook G4 and I installed the plug-in.

Do you need an intel mac to view Red footage?

I can't seem to find anything on it.

Thanks

Definitely a good opportunity to move up to Intel. On the low end you could go iMac or even Mac Mini but I'd advocate a MacBook Pro or a MacPro for heavy duty work.

The IMAC has a beefier spec than a mac book pro though?

I have a maxed out quad G5 with the QUADRO FX graphics card. I was heartbroken (and out about 8 grand) when RED announced they would never support PPC.

I wouldn't count on them changing.

The G5 still works great for editing and finishing ProRes though. I think I edit and finish 60% of what I shoot with RED in ProRes. I had two G5 Quads, sold one, still have the other and it's still for sale, but I'm finding that it works just fine for all the ProRes stuff and I can work on it while the Mac Pro is crunching away on other things.
