This might get moved... but maybe it will get noticed and responded to before it gets moved. No one has responded to my posts on the "proper" threads, and I need to export some .mov files pronto!

What version of Quicktime should I install for Redcine 3.1.2, on a Windows XP Pro 32 bit system?

Bueller?

"Note:
there have been stability issues working with Red Footage using QuickTime 7.4 and Quicktime 7.4.1 on Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger)

There are reports that QuickTime 7.4 is causing stability issues with both RED ALERT! and Final Cut Pro when working with RED footage. RED recommends that users on Tiger (10.4.11) remain on QuickTime 7.3.1 and do not install QuickTime 7.4 .

If you are working with RED ALERT! and Final Cut Pro under Leopard (OS 10.5.2) RED recommends that users run QuickTime 7.4.1"

I know it's for MAc but perhaps you could follow the same advice for PC. I have the latest Redcine (3.12) and Quicktime (7.4.5) installed, I could test it for you if you want...? I am also on Windows XP Pro 32bit with SP3.

Christopher,

If you already have it installed, that would be great.

I recently rebuilt both my systems, and this will be the first time QT has been installed on either of them.

I just want to do it right the first time, since problems can occur with reinstalling, upgrading, downgrading, etc.

Hopefully a Red Team member will chime in.

I have it all installed on a freshly formatted system... if you need me to test something specific I could. :-)

Do you have a Red One, or any B16 footage to do a test export? The footage I need to export is from B16 3.1.8.

Andrew posted that he wasn't getting any new frames returned after frame number 855. He posted here:

He hasn't responded yet which version of QT he is running.

Hopefully you won't have to do anything just yet... hopefully someone from Red will answer.

Okay, no worries, Christopher.

I'll wait for Red.

I went for 7.5.

Sorry, I just now got to this thread. I posted sereral times that you can't use 7.5 with the PC. If you do, you will get no sound files. Since that is it's only use, as far as I know on the PC, you may be in serious trouble unless you can move back one version.
Now I said all this before b16 came out. I haven't tried it since I went to b16.

Quicktime 7.5 was a failure.

I was doing a session with multiple shots.

Redcine with QT 7.5 took the first frame of the first file, and repeated it across ALL the files. I have the same still frame for the entire length of what should have been seperate exports of about a dozen files.

Bummer.

So, I uninstalled 7.5, and I reinstalled 7.3.1.

Same problem. Same frame. Across all the files.

Man this sucks.

I am running 7.5 but I have the same problem with 7.3
We have few machines here so I go and check different configs, but my favorite test is to compare it to SCRATCH.
SCRATCH works fine with QT 7.5

What is this problem with audio on 7.5?
You can't export audio from the QT proxies on PC?

I have to check it, what build the clips are coming from 15?

Andrew,

Update. I got it to work by following Rfo's steps. You can find them in the following link:

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7865

I've known about that thread for months. I just figured that with the new release of Redcine for Windows, that they would have fix those problems.

Note in Rfo's thread that the repeat frame thing would happen later in the file (read the stuck frame on 855 problem), IF he A) there was anything variation between files, ie, frame rate, resolution, etc., or B) if he did not have the Redcine settings exactly the same as the clip settings.

All of the clips I've been trying to process this weekend have been B16 v3.1.8.

Following Rfo's post to a T helped me get through it.

Also, Andrew, when you open Redcine, make sure your settings are exactly the same as your source footage. For example, if your clip settings are 4k 2:1, click on the 4k 2:1 button. Make sure it doesn't say custom. Also, click on the 23.976 button as well.

On one of my render sessions, I forgot and left it at 24 frames, which could have contiributed or caused the problems.

So far, none of my footage requires sound.

I will try 7.1 if I need it. Thanks for the tip, Kaz.

Update:

Man, this is frustrating!

So, my last update was based on the successful export of an individual file...

I set my 12 shots to export to .mov (component compression) at 1080p, and the freeze frame issue reared it's ugly head again on the 3rd clip.

So, I'm now going to try just 3 clips at a time.

In the meantime, my client waits. Yes, frustrating.

I'm really looking forward to when the bugs are worked out of the camera, so that the bugs can be worked out on the post production, especially on the Windows side.

-Thor

Yep, it got moved with no response.

Hmm...
