When did it start driving consumer HDMI TV's? Is this a build 16 thing or was it 15 and nobody told me!!!

I thought I remember prior builds not being able to drive a Sony SXRD. Tried to do the 1080p output, but instead discovered that the camera now drives my TV perfectly--sound and everything. Preview, record, playback--everything--with sound. Okay, so it's 720p, but I love it!!!

1080p output didn't work for me--but of course my TV is only 1080i (I think they didn't start putting 1080p into the SXRDs until last year or the year before)

But Build 16 playing directly to my 60" TV with sound is awesome!

And, love the new bootup--it's like Magic.

Great job, guys! It just keeps getting better and better!!!

The 1080p Playback over HDMI is offset to the right on my Samsung HL50A650 by a third. The left third of the screen is blanked top to bottom with green. This does not happen on the 720P playback or in Preview. Very strange. Does not seem to be an artifact created by the TV as it does not generate Green blanking in any other situation.

I can't double check on my Dell 24" as it doesn't seem to support 1080P input over the HDMI to DVI. 720 and menu mode work perfectly on the Dell however.

Not to NITPICK, but maybe in the next build the preview image we see during bootup could be less covered by the INITIALIZING icon? Maybe make it just text instead of a graphic and put the text in the corner instead of in the center of the image...

Ah the mysteries of HDTV's and HDMI! Maybe by adding audio we "fixed" your earlier issue - anyway glad to hear it works for you now.

On 1080p. Yes its 1080p (not 1080PsF) and not 1080i, so the newer sets are more likely to work than older ones.

Hi Red team,

Quick question, it is mention we need a formatted CF card in the camera when doing a black shading. I only have a SanDisk Ultimate III which used to work in 2K with build 13 (and maybe early build 15s) but is not accepted now with Release 15. Can I use a RedRaid or do I need a CF card ? If so, I'm in a serious bind.

In theory, you should also be able to use the RED-DRIVE. Give that a try.

I think that is the exact term i used too when i lost all my presets... we are working on that

Save presets to SD card? Then it's possible to re-load when you update or if you just want to set up a few cameras the same way...

I'm much happier with my EVF image in this build. Is there going to be a build where it does not change it's brightness due to the image. If I have a scene with no true whites in it then the image gets low contrast and muddy and the greyscale loses lattitude in the whites. When I point the camera at an image with bright highlights I get the full range and the EVF looks great. I would like it to look like that regardless if I have bright highlights or not.

Also, could you put edge highlight in the assists section with focus assist and focus overlay? As much as I like Graeme's focus assist, I find myself choosing edge highlight as my preferred focus assist tool and i also like using false color quickly.

In that case turn off DARK DETAIL.

Added RAW VIEW to available options in USER KEY menu
Added USER KEY 5 ( left hand side key on RED-LCD )
was waiting for those, awsome to have them
Now make the LCD, EVF and HD-SDI monitor have different view ( for exemple, edge highlight for lcd, view raw for evf, and client LUT for HD_SDI....

I miss the big RED icon on boot, maybe better to have full screen RED logo as before but only for a few seconds then give us a clear logoless screen for framing durring rest of boot cycle...perhaps put logo in corner.

Thank you for this change, can you also make it so that when you format a card/drive, that the progress bar gives a true progress reading and only does so on the very bottom of the lcd/evf. Then 50% of the negative comments I hear about the camera would be gone. To get rid of the other 50% you'd need a new cage like you hinted at that eliminated the downtime during battery swaps.

I like it being in color... Because I can make it assign to one of the user buttons for instant in and off. Have you tried that yet?

you mean for the 2 or 3 seconds during the format for cf? This is actually the first time I heard this requested... Others?
