  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

Redrock's build quality is not great. I tested several 35mm adapters for a film a few years back and I had the most problems by far with the Redrock (but it was also the cheapest).

I would not order the mattebox till I have seen a production version in the flesh.

just my 2 cents on this company.

I don't agree. I don't have the Redrock 35 mm adapter, but their FF is really nice and their mattebox was said to be really good.
In the mean time I'm waiting too but that's a different matter.

I'm looking to finalize my purchases. The RED ONE sucks. ;>) Oops, I mean ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I want a Mattbox and obviously REDROCK is at the forefront with the demise of RED into the mattbox wars. So what's the shit we have to deal with? A bit of time. RelaX....

Good 4 u! disagree away! Would be good if you had actually seen the product you are backing. since you say you have not seen the 35mm adapter and do not have the matte box.. do you own the FF?

I have not seen the matte box so it might be great and I have head great things but I still would not buy it till I have seen one in the flesh.

but then I am very picky about the kit I invest it.

Our RED package was ordered with black knobs: AFAIK, you have your choice of black, blue or red.

They're now including an extra free set of different color knobs from the ones you ordered. So whether you ordered blue or red, you will also get the black ones for free; if you ordered Black, you get blue ones for free.

ARE u sure about that .or we should ask Brian
Last time he make absolute timing for a max of 40 working days or 2 months

Now they are late and maybe another late . and another ..

Then if they are not ready for delivary befor 3 or maybe 4 months

why they declare that they are Ready .. and start rushing Befor NAB

IS that rush was done befor NAB just for collecting customers befor NAB

for got them reserved for non ready MB , , or what . ??

Idon't mind for late ..we are used to be late

Starting from Red One ..through Birger Mount ..to imperio ....ending with

RRMB ..

FOR RED one i don't mind ,,i put my reservation befor almost 1 year . because

i know that i am having something (wwwoooowww). not availabe in markets

And they declare it clear like a sun in the sky (red policy) they COLLECT

only 10 % ...so we are .coool

But for others that keep giving promises daily or weekly ..

This Show still going on ..delays delays ...

For birger mount i don't have an order but i read maybe more than 20 or

more times that we are shipping next week ,, no mid next month ,, the

begning of the next month....,,,etc,,,,,,,

And now REDROCKMICRO MB ......:angry01:

So whether you ordered blue or red, you will also get the black ones for free; if you ordered Black, you get blue ones for free.

Nope, you'll get blue ones if you ordered red knobs. You only get black ones if you ordered blue knobs. :)

"As a bonus, we've decided to include a set of redrock blue accent knobs with every microMatteBox order in addition to the color you selected at no additional charge. If you ordered redrock blue knobs, we'll include a set of cinema black knobs. You do not need to do anything to take advantage of this, as we will ship this to you automatically with your microMatteBox"

Hi Adam,
You're very right to be picky about items you need to invest in. I have been interested in the Redrock adaptor but I decided for the Letus Extreme instead and I use the Redrock FF for focusing my Nikons on the Letus. This combination really works fine for me.
Of course I like to back up Micro Redrock.
I like the quality of the FF and combining this with good reactions on the mattebox here on Reduser I think Micro Redrock is wise investment.
When I don't know a brand, type or kind of equipment I sometimes ask opinions here and I have always been advised well.
Of course there is a better mattebox but I doubt there will be better for the prize, and maybe we won't share an opinion on this subject.
I don't like to go into discussion any further because in fact the discussion is off topic. It's about delivery schemes here.

I'm glad that they finally gave some dates for us. However, I am sad that they are over a month away.

My question now is, if you are starting shipments again July 2, why are the first ones not shipping out until the 5th? Shouldn't the golden ticket holders start shipping July 2?

Matthew

Great question Matt.

Are they really shipping on July 5th? That's a Saturday following the big drinking holiday. Kind of a bummer, when they tell you at NAB shipping within 60 days and you pay in full upfront. If they expected delays Redrock should have only collected a deposit. I can deal with them having only 10% of my money, but full payment is a little steep. I ordered mine at the booth at NAB.

Copied from newsletter:

"We know everyone is anxious to receive their microMatteBox, and we are working hard to make sure the quality and features are top notch. The refinements we added based on customer feedback at NAB has caused a slight delay in resuming our shipping. Fortunately the delay isn't long - a matter of a few weeks. We have set up a web page you can check on regularly as we resume shipping at

http://www.redrockmicro.com/micromb_shipping.html

We didn't sit back during this time, and instead took this opportunity to add two additional refinements and a bonus. First the refinements: The stage and filter lock knobs are now farther apart so they can be more easily adjusted, and we have added an additional layer of black anodizing to the eyebrows and side wings to make sure the finishes are top notch. As a bonus, we've decided to include a set of redrock blue accent knobs with every microMatteBox order in addition to the color you selected at no additional charge. If you ordered redrock blue knobs, we'll include a set of cinema black knobs. You do not need to do anything to take advantage of this, as we will ship this to you automatically with your microMatteBox. You can use them as backup, or if you want to switch color schemes. We also made a small change to the microMatteBox swing-away arm rods, changing from from carbon fiber rods to te flon-coated aluminum rods. Not only are they stronger than CF, but they are just as light and have an incredibly durable teflon finish, and we feel they are a better solution for a matte box. We are committed to getting you a top quality product, and we know with these and the other refinements you'll be elated when you receive it."

We all like improvements, and I'm sure RedRock are doing a great job, but when you have as many of us paid in full two months ago... I don't know, shipping maybe nearly three months after...

If they're taking this long maybe they can add a 138mm rotating back stage.
