  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It's lonely in here...

The party seems to be over on the Scarlet forum. Where are the RED folks? I've got a zillion questions and ideas... I want to hear what you guys have cooking with the Epic!

What I think people are missing is the wifi control system. That with Red lens controllers and 3D....Epic will be a monster. 3D is the word of the day...I think thats a word sort of, maybe two words really.

I'll take as much white noise as I need to deal with... as long as we get a few posts from the gents wearing red.

If the white noise gets too irritating, I'll ban everybody.

Ummm, hi I'm looking for the party, but I think I have the wrong address

Maybe it's something to do with the names.
Scarlet sounds like a girl everyone wants to be chatting up, where as Epic has one waiting for Charlton Heston to show up with a bottle of port:clown2:

It's really unfair, they even have a newer version of forum software over there.

Have you guys noticed the screw mounts on the case?
It looks like the Epic is designed to be properly taken apart.
Can the internals of the Red One be accessed easily?
Is this part of Reds making obsolescence, obsolescent?

its funny there isn't a whole lot of speculation going on about Epic. I think with the higher price its out of most fanboys wallet range so they aren't bothering to come here and speculate about it. thats why they are all on the scarlet forum. its been very quiet in general here since that forum was created.

Any one here at reduser wants to speak about "Soccer Moms/Dads with Scarlet"?

The biggest problem is : prosumer is not as sexy as high end "Epic". So not much to speculate about as there is no more informations filtering from RED as after NAB08. We allready know key specifications. 4k sensor would dynamyse the forum... but 4k won't happen...

My 2 cents.

Pat

PS: Scarlet forum has funnier smilies.

I, for one, am glad to have the "white noise" of idiotic chatter out of here.

Is this white noise? I learned nothing about Epic from it.

SIC 'EM! Leo.

productive debate

productive debate

most fanboys... aren't bothering to come here

Pardon me. What I meant to say was...
Why don't you come to the Scarlet forum and engage in productive debate rather than quietly insult the so called "fanboys" in a forum they are very unlikely to read?

the word of the day is dynamic range. I'd love to see 14 to 16 stops with EPIC.

Dynamic range, sensitivity and body ergonomics should be the top three priorities for this camera. Not resolution, not full-size XLRs, not accessory matching, not mount interchangeability, etc. It's a more expensive camera with a more specific professional market. It needs to be a professional solution!

Give me a shimmed invar lens mount, give me a usable 640 ASA under tungsten conditions, give me significantly more than 11 stops of DR and redesign that body! I might finally become a customer with Epic!
