Hi, sorry this is kind of a newb question but I'm not a lens expert and my dp is unreachable right now.

I just received our red one package - with which we ordered the Canon FD lens adapter. Now the adapter seems to already be mounted on the camera out of the box with a dark blue plastic unit between the body of the camera and the lens mount - yet none of the FD lenses we have will mount - the lens mount is quite a bit bigger than the FD lenses.

So am I crazy or did we receive the wrong adapter or is there a different range of FD lenses that would work. My knowledge of lens specs is still somewhat limited to still camera lenses.

I wasn't aware that there was an FD adapter? Is it the PL mount that's on the camera? The PL has a locking ring on the outside, FD has the locking ring on the lens itself (or some are bayonet fitting so you turn the lens to lock it in place).

It looks like this is the PL mount then and we did not receive the FD adapter. I am waiting to hear back from sales to verify.

I will post a pic in the next few minutes.

Looks like a PL mount to me! There used to be a Canon FD mount being offered in the early days. Then it got 86d.

It was on my all my "your order is ready to ship" confirmations. Also it is still referenced in the manual on page 9.

I just talked to RED and they say that the FD adapter is not shipping at this time. If they made a formal announcement of this I must have missed it. Let the hunt for PL lenses begin.

Yes there is an FD adapter made by kmuse instead of RED. See these posts and then PM Kevin to see if he has one left for sale.

Well, I recall seeing something a long time ago. I did a quick search and all I could find is the following post by Jim, where he says that the Canon mounts are being handled by Birger (come to think of it, I believe I read someplace that Kevin is not selling them anymore). Anyway, here's that post:

There may be a few other posts discussing the Canon FD mount being dropped from the online store and Kevin's efforts in producing it.

I, for one, had the Canon FD mount on my original order (from a year ago). Now it's not. I'll be going with the Birger EF mount instead.
