Hey are there any Christian Filmmakers here on Reduser.net?

If so, where are you on a purchase from Red, and what projects are you currently working on, or planning to produce?

Websites would be nice to see also.

Any of you in Oklahoma or a surrounding state? :)

Hi there Joseph. . . you have a PM.

Stephen

Thanks to those who have sent me private messages.

I don't want to be the only one who finds out about the different productions, so if you don't mind, could we all let each other know about the features, or other projects we have, and are working on?

Joseph;
Yes, I've been a Christian and a filmmaker shortly thereafter. We just produced a short for the 168 Project and came in sixth overall. We are working on our first feature film to be shot on Red right now.

This is the short we entered in the 168 Project.

I am presently giving my services to my church "Destiny Life" for weekly announcements, and various productions.

I am 16, will be 17 on Wednesday, and have been in production for about 14 months.

My future plans are to possibly attend a Film school such as "Full Sail University" and move on to work on films such as the Chronicles of Narnia (big dream I know). So if you "know" people let me know.

Again, thanks for informing us all about the exciting things that are going on.

My website is nearsightedproductions.com

SWEET!!! I have seen other short films on Behind the Scenes advertising the 168 project, and I love them.

I just watched all of "November" and loved it! THANKS!!!

Filmmaker. Christian. Red #29xx-somethin on order. Attending NYU film production. Hoping to rent RED to film peers to make money back and eventually start own film production company. Just completed feature screenplay about conservative christian who goes on a road trip across country with the church "rebel" and looses his faith for "First Cut Film Series" (www.firstcutfilmseries.com). Any questions, PM me.

I haven't purchased a Red camera yet. Was waiting for announcements this year. SO, now that Scarlet is coming, I'll be laying in wait for that and renting cameras until then.

Though I'm a Christian my company does business with clients across the board. We are in development of an Action/thriller film (that I'd like to shoot on Red) dealing with the spirit-world and it's influence on unsuspecting humans. For the movie buffs, it's kind of like that movie Constantine that starred Keanu Reeves a couple of years ago. A lot of green/blue screen and virtual environment stuff.

I still use my trusted DVX100A though it's primarily for internet and SD-DVD work that my clients use. So, Scarlet is going to take over where my DVX leaves off.

It was a good thing to see the announcement of Scarlet because until then I was going to purchase the EX-1/-3.

I'm definitely interested in working with other Christ-centered producers, directors, DOP and all.

Do you mean "filmmakers who are Christian" or "makers of Christian films"?

I'm purchasing a Scarlet to shoot an Easter miracle kind of story [among many other things].

I wouldn't say that it will be a religious film, but I hope it will a super-natural and spiritual message to the audience.

We had a similar discussion on DVXuser:

Actually, I'm not sure what "a Christian filmmaker" means, but nevermind...

That's a good question.

I went to a Christian screenwriting seminar of some sort once and asked about making R rated movies etc. The answer was actually kinda cool... which was some movies need to be R (or more). Sometimes people get naked.

Do you want to preach to the choir? Or reach general audiences?

From there this person went on to say 99% of the Christian scripts she read were the same warmed over crap... Successful Ad Exec appears to have it all, but is really lost - then Jesus shows up and everything's OK.

BORING.

Regarding my [future] movie.

It would definitely be R rated :).

And the target audience would actually be the people who do not believe. I wanna impress them.

I'll make it very realistic and even brutal at times, so I'm not really sure if it will be a "Christian" movie.

This reminds of a the whole violence/sex dilemma. A asked a Mormon friend "So you're telling me you'd rather take your daugher to a movie where someone gets a flaming spear through the eyeball than one where a woman's nipple is shown?" His answer was "yeah, pretty much".

If that's "Christian" count me out.

I don't see how either could add to a Christian Message

Christian filmmakers in my opinion are the ones that conduct themselves like Jesus would which btw is pretty hard and pretty rare. Pay fair wages, deal honestly, honor copyrights, give the little guys/gals a chance, encourage rather than discourage, treat others with respect and swallow their pride. If you find one, let me know, I'm not even close.
