My RED PACKAGE Configuration

Hans and Jeremy,
Thanks a lot for your valuable replies..
Now it's crystal clear for me that I should get both..
Either action-feature, music video or documentary; each could require rough camera movement and/or long shots on tripod;
according to the concept, story or the situation.. So, I think about getting 2 HDDs and at least 10 CF cards for now..

If you are doing high frame rate shots you need the drive to shoot 120fps at 2k, the CF cards can only do 113fps, and if you want to ensure no dropped frames going to CF then at the moment you need to shoot 110fps. It really depends on what and how you shoot. We use both depending on the situation. If you can afford a drive, then I would at least get one. It will give you the most flexibility.

I always shoot straight numbers 50, 75, 100 fps. I don't mind the extra 20 or the "only" 113. You don't see it and shooting odd numbers say 120 will cause flicker on certain types of lights.

Very true, but it really depends on your situation and what you are going after. There is no right or wrong answer, only what gives you the most options. There are plenty of people right now who want the most fps available and there have already been a lot of very beautiful shots done at 120fps with great results and no issues. Simply a matter of knowing what your tools can do in order to help you achieve what you are going after. It's different for everyone.

They were Red 8GB cards, made for Red by Lexar.

Are you finalizing an order and your RED is arriving soon, or just getting in the mix? I was assured at NAB that the you could finalize your accessories package closer to your ship time, some months from now for me :sad: Who knows just what will be out by then. Just get your serial number and worry about the rest later was the word.

I would seriously rethink getting the red bottom plate and cheese plate. They are poorly made and time consuming. Get the Element Technica 19mm baseplate and don't fool around with crappy accessories. Look at Element Technica and Sim Video for accessory systems. At least do yourself a favor and get the ET ultra rods. They are much lighter.

Thank you all for your kind replies...
Here is my final RED configuration and order:

Some items may seem unnecessary for some of you but consider that unlike most of you;
I don't have the chance to knock on Red's door everytime I need something; since I live in Istanbul : )

Now I only have to worry about my RED # and see if it's handsome! : )))

regards..

Thank you but I feel better if I order them all now...

This looks better. Would definitely add another powerpack (not only batteries) and an AC adapter. Then you should be happy. (The powerpacks make to much noise for studio AC use...)

Onur,

If you are getting 2 15mm adapters, then you will want to get at least 2 universal mounts. One for each adapter, because the third one that comes in your production pack will need to be used for either the cradle or the quickplate.

Looks like a very complete package. I do agree with Gunleik that you'd want at least another battery. 3 batteries is a minimum so that you can have one being used on camera, one charged and ready to go when the first one runs out, and one charging. And then rotate. Since there is currently no sleep mode on the camera and the bootup time is a bit long you tend to leave the camera running as much as possible.

Maybe by the time your order ships 16 GB CF will be available?
