Anyone come across the Badinsky bros at NAB, or at least their products ?

Maybe they're too busy working on them.

They were listed as having a booth though. Surprised there's been no mention of them yet. They said they were planning announcements for NAB.

Cheers,
Damien

Yes, saw Curt at their booth in NAB. They demoed their latest built. Look good. Need a couple more weeks to ship though

Mirus looked awesome. I was hoping to see it working, but they had some issues with prototype parts not fitting right and they were still getting it programmed. I think Curt was programming on it right there at the booth when I walked up.

I like their motors, looked great. Was hoping to see an Impero controller, but it they didn't have one.

Right next to the ViewFactor booth is Ugrip. They have an adjustable handheld system for the RED (and other cameras) that looked kinda neat and compact. I'd want to play with it on a RED One before I'd actually buy it though. However, they did have a slick RED Drive mounting unit, but a bit pricey at $399. I still may get one of those though since Element Technica isn't ready with theirs yet.

They have a promo price on the package (grip, drive mount and case). I ordered one. I'll let you know what I think when it arrives.)

Did you hear how loud the motors were? Was it acceptable? I guess it's hard to hear this at a loud NAB exhibition though.

The prototypes are on par with a Heden motor and I believe I heard the guys say the production models were gonna be a little quieter.

Inclino/Impero combo looks like a must buy to me. Inclino might not be the lightest lens motor in the market but when you consider that the receiver is built into it that pretty much makes it a net weight savings on a camera rig.

I think these things are gonna be as nice as anything I've ever worked with and cost a fraction of the price. BUY! :usd:

I personally didn't think the Inclino motor was that heavy... I've heard the heavy comment before getting to their booth and from description, initial pictures, etc.. I just thought it would weigh more. Curt was a bit surprised when I said it wasn't as heavy as I expected.

Looks like a great motor though. I wish they had the Impero there and a way to play with operational motors.

Greg -- when do you think you will get your U-Grip system? I'm definitely interested. If it weren't so hectic at the time, I probably would've had one of the Ugrip guys help me put all the pieces on a RED at the VF booth as they were already showing off the drive mount on one of the REDs there.

Hopefully soon, I didnt even ask.

I'll post a review when it arrives. They only disappointment is that it does not incorporate a shoulder pad.

Lack of shoulder pad system is one of the reasons I passed on ordering. That and I'm not sure just how tough those arm pieces and attachment screws really are.

I eagerly await the review.

had it on our camera in the booth. I spoke to ugrip. The bolts can hold up to a ton and a half. Bolt them to your car and lift;)

They had shipping models of the motors there but when I was there they weren't hooked up. Just the prototype model was hooked up to the camera in a wired config. But yes, even if it were hooked up, I wouldn't have been able to tell because of how loud it was at the Convention Center

Thank you all for sharing with us who aren't at NAB.

Hi Daniel, forgot you were heading out to NAB. Seems like a great NAB, a lot of accessories for Red cameras. Exciting times.

I guess Viewfactor are busy enough, nothing new about their upcoming Mattebox ?

Do they say when they think they'll be shipping the Inclino and Impero ?

The Ugrip stuff looks interesting, but Blue handles from Tangohead seem better to me.

What I'm still looking for is a good simple adujstable (back and forth) shoulder pad to complement blue handles, or with handles included, which slides into an Arri plate for easy tripod to shoulder change. I anybody sees anything...

Cheers,
Damien

He told me mine was on schedule, June is for new orders. May is for the very original pre-orders from over a year ago.

Over a year ago ? I think you're talking about Mirus. Strongbad was answering my question about Inclino and Impero availability, for which orders only opened up a month or two ago.

Cheers,
Damien

I've used the Ugrip stuff on and off since I bought a set at NAB last year. It's very tough and very adaptable. I just bought a few more parts specifically for the Red - great!
