P+S TECHNIK presents Interchangeable Mount System (IMS) for RED cameras

At the NAB Show 2008 P+S Technik launches the Interchangeable Mount System for the RED One camera.
The Interchangeable Mount System (IMS) as well as several Mount have already been constructed in great quantities. The P+S Technik image converter MINI35, the Weisscam HS-1 and the SI-2K camera are equipped with the Interchangeable Mount System (IMS).

Based on the design of the RED One a new camera front was constructed in order to use the P+S Technik Interchangeable Mount System. The modification can be done easily - because of the simple camera body of the RED One - but naturally additional costs will arise. Nevertheless the modification is profitable, because P+S Technik has combined the mechanical construction of the new camera front with a higher temperature stability.

The following lens mounts can be used with the P+S Technik Interchangeable Mount System on the RED camera:
Arri PL Mount, Panavision Mount, BNC-R Mount, Professional F-Mount, Nikon F-Mount, Canon EF-Mount, Canon FD-Mount, Contax Mount, Leica-R Mount and Leica-M Mount.
Also the Sony B4-Mount and the C-Mount can be used, but due to their design for 2/3“ chips, they project only a picture of 2/3” size.
Based on the way the RED sensor records 2K, the B4 Mount and video lenses should works when recording 2K..

In the future also the P+S Technik IMS optical viewfinder can be used with the new designed IMS camera front!

Same here please Sanjin.

Also, I would not be terribly upset if you made any further references to Skater jr. This is very interesting to me, I was about to build my own with a machinist.

Cheers,

Andrew

ps--your quick Sanjin!

ps--your quick Sanjin!

Have a look at the Axisdolly! I have one, good stuff!

Let's make it clear that here we are about IMS Camera Front for RED One and not about dolly.

By the way Skater Junior should be about Euro 1.200 as they told me before.

Yes Sanjin, it is quite clear this is about the IMS Camera Front.

How many threads are there on this subject? Was yet another one needed? No.

As a matter of fact, I learn of the skater through you in one of those threads.

Sorry for "throwing the vibe off"... coming from you of all people is this too funny. I will refrain from posting in your threads Sanjin. Lord knows you are the King of "Being on Topic". I have should have known better.

Thanks JNAD for the heads up.

"Compact and Powerful
Engineered to offer big performance in a small package,
Carl Zeiss DigiZoom lenses are surprisingly compact and
lightweight. At just 9.8” (249mm), the 6-24mm is sure to
fit the bill for handheld, remote and Steadicam work.
Featuring all the standard cine-style accoutrements, and
then some, this 4X zoom is equally advantageous in a
studio situation, fully outfitted with cine mattebox, bridgeplate,
as well as focus, zoom, and iris motors. The ZEISS
telephoto 17-112mm is a compact powerhouse. Only 11.8”
(300mm) long and weighing under 9 pounds (4 kg), this
6.5X optic is substantially smaller and lighter than any
other high-performance telephoto available.

Internal Focusing Design & Close Focusing
These innovative optics incorporate the singular Carl Zeiss Internal
Focusing Design for top performance – center to corner– over
the entire focus and zoom range, a consistent center of gravity,
minimum balance shift, and no measurable breathing. What’s
more, the ZEISS DigiZoom 6-24mm focuses to just 22” from
the image plane — a close-focusing 11” from the front of the
lens. The extraordinary Telephoto 17-112mm focuses to just 30”
from the image plane, less than 5” from the front of the lens."

Hi,

An optical viewfinder for PL would be cool.

The only problem I can see is that it looks like the IMS replaces the RED backfocus system. Can someone see if there is a demo at NAB, and confirm?

Hi,

An optical viewfinder for PL would be cool.

Stephen

hm, i have to say that i cecame rather critical of OVFs since the accuscenes and sony vfc-30s.

- you loose one stop of light...
- pulling focus by eye isnt doable in 4k with an ovf.
- you see more than the recorded area on the red evf

what the main benefit you would like to get from an OVF?

working while the camera is not powered up.

While I do like OVF's:

- A simple lens finder could get you up and running just as fast.
- It's true that you could see thru the eyepiece, but what about the director and the rest of the crew.
- If you hit the powerbutton before setting the tripod up the wait isnt that long :-)

Now, faster boot time would definitely be nice...

I'm sure that P+S Technik could develop and make 4K OVF for RED in a near future.

And by the way, a spinning mirror shutter would be a nice option, as it would also solve all rolling shutter artifacts and you wouldn't lose any light. Not easy and certainly not cheap
