Hello.. just got my RED.. i connected it to my LCD tv (43") and noticed a thin blue line or two on the screen going from top to bottom like film scratches. (with RED cap on).. they arent in any other channels, so its not the lcd..

Are they dead resolution lines? (like dead pixels)???

Or is it a firmware issue? Must i send it to replace the sensor?
They are quite thin, but noticeable if on a big screen for sure..

Help!

Have you shot any footage yet and if so are the lines present in the footage?

And what kind of monitor is this?

I would bet this has to do with your TV not the RED... this may sound stupid... but if you unplug the red from the tv while its happening does it change?

and what i mean by "it's your tv" is that maybe when it receives a signal it cant cope with that is what happens... not that there is any defect in the tv.

You're probably gonna want to get either a drive or CF cards or both. Besides the black shading calibration they are useful for other things like, you know, shooting.

What do you plan on using your camera for? I can think of cheaper (but not as cool) paperweights.

Hehe... i know.. the cards are on their way.. (2 lexar 8 gb professionals udma)
But for now i cant do black shading.. Anyways, i did a firmware update to 15.. hoping the blue lines at least moved to a diferent place, which would be a good sign, as it means its not the actual area of the sensor. I'll check on my tv later..

May or may not be acceptable to record 4K... Yes, the RED cards are made by Lexar but my understanding is that they're different in some way...

Different firmware I believe, though I guess if you had both you could use software to pull the firmware from the Red branded Lexar and maybe try flashing it to the normal (but theoretically identical) Lexar.

I'm more than happy just to buy Red's own because the price can't be beat!

Hello.. the thin blue line is gone :) i did a firmware downgrade to version 13, which made my RED accept my cheap CF card, so i was able to do a Black Shading.. :)
