If you have lived in Los Angeles for the past five years, I'm sure at some point you have stumbled upon this permanent movie billboard. I believe there are two of them, both advertising THE ROOM, which is written, directed, starring by Tommy Wiseau. I always saw this billboard but never had the time to go watch the flick...

..So, I was driving to Northern California yesterday on the I-5. I am going pretty fast and pull up to a brand new H3 SUV Hummer with decals on the back and sides saying 'TheRoomMovie.com' I pulled up along side of the car and sure enough it was Tommy Wiseau driving it. We kinda went back and forth for a few miles then he slowed down and I sped away.

An hour later I pull off to a rest stop to let the dog out and take a quick nap. When I awake 30 minutes later, the same Tommy Wiseau Hummer is parked two spots down. I look up and see him sitting in his car, staring at nothing..

So I walked over to Tommy, introduced myself and we startted chatting. Apparently he is in line to buy a Red camera and is pissed off since his Varicam is a paper weight

12 hours later, I've checked out a lot of youtube clips of poorly captured audience reactions and it looks like quite the phenomenom.

Anyone in LA seen the ROOM ?

I always see that billboard on Highland, and wonder what connection his family has to outdoor advertising...or if they own the building it's on, or whathaveyou...

I've also always assumed the movie is probably bad.

Reminds me of the taxi placards that were everywhere for most of 2004 in L.A., for some blonde singer named Lisa Apps(sp?). I guess the story was that her uncle owned the company that put advertisements on cabs...

Your Tearing me Apart!!!!

I've never seen it but I did call the rsvp number once. Intriguing poster to say the least ;)

The Room is the best example of having tons of money but not being able to tell a story. IMO - AGAIN PLEASE READ - IN MY OPINION - the movie is really, really bad.

Yes, I have seen it, unfortunately. That billboard haunts you with his face just starring down at you - HAUNTS YOU...

Save your time and memory.

Many moons ago, I was actually the Online Editor for "The Room." I officially claim my piece of Hollywood history. :)

Luki, I respect you so much more now for having the forsight to take on such a challenging position - its like you edited Star Wars or something..

Actually, gotta say - Tommy was very pleasant to work with from what I remember. Certainly not even close to some of the nightmare clients I dealt with at that gig.

One of my favorites was the music video I worked on for a very well-known band where the Producer would step out every 20 minutes or so to snort a few lines, then come back with the most... ummm.... interesting... ideas for FX treatment to the lead singer. He felt strongly enough about them that I had to spend about 4 hours trying to morph her head into some vision in his head that best I could figure out was a cross between Michael Myers and Schmoo. Hey, he was paying hourly for the facility and cash was not an issue - what did I care? :)

Had to feed him vodka to sort of even things out. Eventually, he just passed out on the couch and I finished the damn thing. It was a really long day.

He ended up not liking the Schmoo-thing.

The worst thing is that you know from very beginning, that client will not like his idea when you finish it after couple hours :cold: :weight_lift:
