We will be delivering these lenses in a couple of months. And YES, they will have witness marks for Aperture, Zoom and Focus. Available in feet or meters.

AWESOME!

Now my only hope is that the primes will have witness marks too!

That 18-85mm is so damn impressive.
I'm not trying to stir up any hype here, I'm just speaking the truth.
You guys are gonna love this

The 18-85 is a milestone here at RED. From this day forward, all new lens designs will use this lens as the benchmark. This is what we wanted to do all along. Price AND performance. We couldn't be happier with it. It'll change the industry the way the RED One did.

Jon sending chills up everyones spines!
I love it

Since the 18-85 seems like THE lens, does Red ever plan to go back to the 18-50 drawing board and improve its mechanics? I'm all for a badass new lens but I would hope that Red would improve their current lineup instead of putting out new product. Overall I really enjoy the optics of the 18-50, the mechanics, not so much... 18-50 owners suffer a little with the announcement that the 18-85 was the lens Red always intended to make.

I'm assuming they'll be sold in order of deposits on the lens? I sure hope so, since I just put money down :)

Or, from when they were announced in 2006 and I put down reservations with deposits for 5 of them - numbers 5-10 if I remember correctly?

Jim...? Still going to honor that one? :)

Jon,

I always preferred the Primes over the Zooms, but with posts such as this, it makes me want one of this Zooms.

Ciao

couple of months meaning around may...or later? I'm not getting my camera till May sometime so I have some time to spare...but the 18-85 is the only lens i ordered. I'd hate to get my red and have to wait 6 more months till I have my own lens. I know i can always rent some lenses when i need to play...but having your own lens is always nice.
