  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The New 24-105mm f/2.8 Dream Video Hybrid Lens!!!

Seems like an intriguing lens though the servo zoom control options
are kind of expensive compared to the price of the lens.

It also seems to have some weight to it but the fact that it's 2.8 though is very nice.

I'm excited at the newer fast all-in-one zoom options that have come out, it's been a long time coming for having single lens solutions for stills and video and I've looked at big cinema zooms for the same reason but they were way outside the realm of being affordable. I've dabbled in legacy third-party options but the optics outside of a small select few have left a good deal to be desired. At least now there's something for RF and it looks like a definite "must buy" if buying an RF camera.

I wonder how the servo is though. It only has buttons so the speed is probably constant then. I noticed they have the little wheel so you should be able to increase and decrease the speed which is good. I also wonder if there is dampening in the end of the zoom or it just stops harshly like our cn20x50.

Currently my main lens for filming handheld docu work is 24-70 2.8. Both the RF and the EF so this looks interesting. You get a bit more range, but its also a lot heavier and larger so not 100% it is worth upgrading for me.

Curious to see how the electronic parafocal feature works on a non-Canon body like a RAPTOR. I’m hoping to get a loaner from Canon soon before I decide to buy or not.

We got one in the shop. I tested the parfocal on one of our Komodos, it works pretty good. I have not had time to do critical science testing but by eye on my monitor it looked fine.
