  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

3rd party media dream coming true !!! Londoner needed!

A little update here,

I just got some news from my engineer friend who had to face storms recently, hopefully things are getting better.
As for the Red one project, it is alive more than ever and i will repeat what i've been asking for multiple times :
"WE NEED A RED ONE NEAR LONDON"!!!!
The hardest part has been accomplished already, we now need a Red one for 3 days near London to run our last tests, that's how far we are from this miracle, a Red one camera near London and 3 days, please guys make some noise around you,

Update:
I've found someone in London and i'm negotiating the price for 2 days right now.
Does someone have a A working SSD so my friend can compare access commands with the hard drive and CF cards we already have?

While I don't have an SSD to share, I'd certainly like to donate towards the cause of renting a camera. I'd guess others would love to chip in too!
 
Maybe post in the Epic/Scarlet subforum to get access to a mag/SSD? I think more people look at those.

As for your proposition, that is a great idea.. I'll set up a little fundraiser so anyone who is willing to help is welcome ;)
I negotiated 120£ for 2 days which is what we need tu run our last tests, here is the Red one Mx in question :

i got equipment, ssds and cameras along with REDMAG to SATA adapters i can use to modify the disks. Maybe we should exchange some info and collab on this. I might be able to help out remotely with testing and coding
 
Troy, I was just about to suggest you team up with these guys! 3rd party media for Red one and DSMC1 would be excellent.

Got no response from these guys, so ill just base it as a "no-go" and start my own Development on this. So far i have been able to locate the SMART Array code containing some modifications.
Will have a friend of mine join in on the research and development. We will most likely have results within 2 months. Ill make a new thread of my own with our findings and progress.
 
Hell yeah Troy! I tried my hand at this as well, had trouble with running the antiquated MSDOS programs. Though I’m not the savviest computer boy. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress.
 
Any more word on this? I've got a full Red MX plus parts camera and there are a bunch of other folks who I'm sure would love to test.

I got something cooking ;) Been playing around with some disks and modifying different strings. With some progress. Will publish my findings once i have made a drive work as OEM

Yes, +1 with Zack here. I am very interested in the development of this "hack" to the system. We have two beasts waiting, sleeping in storage waiting to be woken for this revelation. Time to warm up those sensors!
