Dont know if this has been touched on already but I was wondering if it is possible to attach a strap to the camera for the purpose of using it like a consumer camcorder. This would be handy for those of us who are a little fussier about the quality of our party footage?

You wanna put a wrist strap on the Red and hold it with one hand and record your drunk buddies...?

That idea wont be sounding so good anymore after a few seconds. Youll want to shoot yourself after half a minute. , but the good thing is your hand will hurt too much to pull the trigger.

you guys havnt seen page 2 of the Red Store.

I've formed an attachment...

I've formed an attachment...

On a camera with this many attachment points it should be rather easy for 3rd party to make straps, covers (I would expect many styles to suit many situations and many operator preferences) and other RedOne specific rigs that work well.

One of the gifts we got from the clean sheet design was a modular body that provides a multitude of rigging options. All due respect to the Arri equipped production professionals who do amazing rigs every day - they rock, but, as the RedOne starts getting more set time we will see another stage of the Rebellion.

My thesis: There are some clever folks in the camera departments and rental houses. They will design and rent/market custom accessories for the RedOne that leverage its industrial design strong points (sorry about the pun) to make it integrate smoothly into the professional production environment.

Despite its excesses, sometimes you just have to love capitalism

Looks like no-one here will be strapping up.

I wouldn't be surprised if drummers were to use it.... to work the fingers and wrist for stick control. I've done something similar but I save money and just use rubberbands.

I use it to perfect my iron ball producer grip. "What do you mean I can't have a technocrane?"

A long carry strap would be good though, so we can sling the thing over our shoulders and run like hell for cover..

A good strap is very helpful for EFP/ENG style work where one walks reasonable distances from shot to shot and where there isn't time to put a camera into a PortaBrace bag and take it out again (especially with all the accessories on-board). The strap puts the weight burden on the body and a hand on the handle keeps things from swinging around.

Exactamundo Storyline, and you wanna be very sure it's not EVER going to break or in some other way come adrift..

Although the party idea is a little sketchy I could easily see need for a strap at times. I've walked all the way down Whistler mountain in the summer and you don't have room or time for a bag. The camera has a strap and the tripod goes over the shoulder. I'm not too worried about it with Red though. I'm sure if I needed to get a strap on there it can be done.

shoulder strap is defiantly a good idea..
